Got a few old guys to ride my sled last weekend.

I brought the wife and kids up to our cabin in Willow for the re-start of the iditarod last weekend. Brought the 503 136 and the Jr 60. The 503 was sitting out on the lake and a couple of old retired guys rode over on a couple of doos. Neither of them had ever seen a hawk, but after 10 minutes or so I talked both of them into taking a ride. Both of them had the "hawk grin" when they returned. They stayed and hung out for a while and took a bunch of pictures of each other on the machine. The one fella had like 120k miles on his harley and had ridden all over europe. I'm not sure if they would ever buy a hawk but it was cool seeing somebody take the ride of their lives. Just goes to show that not all of the twoskiers out there are ignorant and close minded.

Thats a cool feeling watching others get so much joy from riding the hawk, most seem so apprehensive and timid to ride them initially, but once underway the cool feeling sets in and the ride/drive of the machine becomes natural.I had my dad, sister, sisters boyfriend,my uncle and the neighbor kid who saw us and had to come over ,ALL of them rode it and enjoyed the heck out of it,we were on a lake enjoying some family time last weekend and they all rode it for the first time,I love riding my hawk but its almost as cool just getting the reactions from other riders after they take the hawk for a blast!

You tube and hawks

I've never even seen a hawk, but seeing the videos of them sure makes them look like fun. What are the drawbacks? Are they hard to control if icy? Are there conditions you'd rather be on a regular sled? How do you tow back broken hawks?

This forum is great. Seeing hawks they boondock sure has me thinking...

Alfonse,

In my opinion, the only true drawback is trying to tie down a snowhawk on a trailer or man handle one not under power. They're not really all that heavy just awkward to move. Everything else rips on them. Just like any other sled there are improvements that can be made. Search this forum, you'll learn alot and most everybody is very passionate about hawks.

Take care,

Let me tell you right now that they are much more than a boondocking machine. I love it on the trails, if it icy you cant be as agressive but its not unlike riding a moto in mud.. My track is not studded either..

Get one!

That's probably the best way! I'm an old guy myself, but not too stuck in my ways. I'll read some more and consider myself in the market.
Thanks,
Alfonse
