got a chainsaw question...

my friend says his old husky 480 cd
HUSKY

will whip up on my poor ol echo CS8000
ECHO

i think his has a 28 or 30 inch bar and mine has a 36

i know his has been bored out.. i think it its 20 or 30 out and mine is stock for all i know

The lenght of the bar doesn't mean anything unless you have the horsepower to pull it.

So you need the perfect bar length and if you line them up side by side the guy that runs a full comp chain with the rakers down an extra .010" and has if pinned will out run the guy that has a bar that is to long and chain that isn't sharpend to a tee.

And even at that their is some techniques that will improve the speed of the cut.

IMO

I'd have to give it to the Husky, as that Echo and even the newer Husky that you buy at Lowes is nothing more than a homeowners light use saw.

I use a saw almost everyday (I've got a Husky 575xp that will pull your arms off at 8000 elev). And have bought these big box store saws for little projects and siezed them up within an hr. 99% of them, (at least on the west coast) have CA emmisions crap on them, and they won't run when you take them to higher elevations. I've got a baby Stihl 192 (single hand) with a 10" bar that I use for finish work. High elevation, High heat, and it just keeps running.
