Yep, the $20 "unfree" v. of G.E. is required.

But kicks much a$$ being able to overlay your downloaded tracks.

Where can you get the $20 unfree version? I looked and could only find the Pro version or something like that and it was like $200. I think downloading the tracks on G.E. would be awsome!!

Thanks

I have the free version, I just load into mapsource then in the view column, select view in google maps. Seems to work I can get pics just like the ones above??

can someone explain that but in more "computer retarded" terms? that is way cool!!! i don't make tracks but i would start if I could do that!!!!

Last ride

Here's our last ride up Tony's. We were socked in pretty good so couldn't go to the places we wanted. The Rino came in very handy when things got really foggy and snowy. I always ride with my rino in my windshield bag - I hang the antenna out so my tracks are recorded.

I load my tracks to mapquest and then save it as a .gpx file. Then open GE (free version) and open that same .gpx file. Pretty slick and fun to see.

I do the same thing but don't need to hang the antenna out... it will record your tracks just fine with the bag zipped up. In fact, I wrap my in a fleece hat to cushon it from any banging around on a whooped up trail. Mine has been known to shut off if takes a hard jolt. Anyway, I upload my tracks after every ride to National Geographic TOPO.

I have noticed this rino gets reception a lot better than my old garmin. I might try it zipped up all the way next time. Mine is kind of sensative too.

Just got email from Google today about my Google Earth Plus subscription. Apparently they have added the GPS download funtionality to the new free version of GE (version 5). So no more pay subscription and no 3rd party workarounds. Thanks Google!
