Squamish, BC has lost another sledding LEGEND....Barry Groundwater,a true outdoorsman, president of the BTSC,active member of the dirt bike club and a strong voice in both the sledding and dirt bike community, who was also my neighbor and a very very very dear friend passed away on Friday June 8, after a short battle with cancer. He was a very kind, honest, positive and polite person who would gladly do anything for you and expect nothing in return. He was a human compass and never left a man behind and went on many rescue missions to save those who needed help. He was always "having more fun that a guy should have" and will surely be remembered that way.

I miss you already, my friend...R.I.P. Life will never be the same without you.

Very sad indeed! You could not get a nicer guy than Barry! A huge advocate for snowmobiling and dirt biking on the sea to sky corridor. You will be missed!! R.I.P.

Used to mud race with Barry as well, #1 Guy.

Thank-you all for your kind remarks. His service will be in Squamish at the Totem Hall on June 16, 2012 at 4:00 pm.
His ashes will be spread at a later date on Brohm Ridge at No Name Peak.
We will also be installing a memorium of some kind at this location at a later date.

Extremely sad to hear this. Barry did more than his share to support the cause, what a tremendous loss for our community. I sincerely appreciated all his help and wisdom over the years. Very saddening indeed.
