Good place to get a cat motor redone?

The MC900 did a little overheat yesterday. Managed to shut it down before it seized but it didnt smell or feel to good (pun intended). I will be pulling the head off tonight but am expecting at least the pto side to be fairly toasted, who knows I could be fairly lucky but I am doubting it.

So who can I trust? Or maybe its time to part it and get the wife something else.

I doubt it needs redone... The idiot light should of came on did you look when you rode it?

It just had a top end done at the beginning of last year also.

My powder special overheated last ride. Found the brass drive on the crank stripped. Will be parting out sled.

Go to peak power sports in denver. Rick is great to deal with and he really knows his stuff.:beer;

After inspecting the plugs they are I would say cream colored. I took the exhaust off and I see no damage to the cylinder, and I see no damage when looking through the plug holes.

It pulled over a bit tight but didnt seem any harder than normal. I put a bit of oil down each cylinder and flipped the choke and fired her up.

So far it took 2 bottles of antifreeze (the bottle on the sled) its burping and taking it down so I am making sure its refilled. I did see a small amount coming from the fitting on the rear cooler. So I think multiple trips with the rear cooler leaking a bit along with the fact that I had a bad rad cap that blew a bunch of freeze out left me low.

I am thinking this is a combination of panic and good luck. That line came off which made me panic, but that particular line is non functional due to the power valve delete. However the thing was severly low on coolant. The last temp I saw before I killed it was 8xx so I think we are okay. I think it got low and did get hotter than usual which caused the bogging, but i couldnt read that one cylinder...Or maybe the bog was a coincidence I dont know.

I had Mule and one other guy there and that thing sure smelled HOT! But I took it and rode up for about 15 minutes today let it warm up good and am cycling coolant and all "seems" to be okay. It idled for a solid 15 minutes and the temp just hovered between 4-600 depending on how soon after I rode it. So I think maybe I am okay???

Anyone have a take on this?

The EGT's have nothing to do with coolant temp.

I wouldn't recommend you leave a sled idling to long but on cold morning as the coolers are not getting snow on them so a sled that idles will just get hotter and hotter. Just check the rear cooler connection like I pmed you every so often especially when jumping or riding two up. Also not a bad idea to carry a extra 1/2 gallon of coolant.

Glad to hear the motor is fine, but remember egts and coolant temp do not go together. :)

No I was just thinking the temp in general, I understand what the EGT's do and I didnt see the idiot light on the dash come on either. Not sure why I automatically thought the EGTs when you said idiot light but I didnt mean that one when I stated i didnt see it come on lol

I dont leave it idling long maybe 5-7 minutes or so at most. If its gonna take long I shut her down.
