Can anyone recommend a good machining shop on the eastside (Bellevue +/10 miles ideally)? I need a broken bolt pulled from my driveshaft and re-threaded by mid next week..

A friend recommend Integrity Machining Inc. in Ballard but that might as well be driving all the way to Canada as far as I'm concerned. I like to drive east, not west. Already got trapped in I-90 traffic once this week, thats my quota for the year. ;)

I know the NAPA in North Bend does jobs like that....

yes talk to wes at north bend napa....good guy. if you are trying to get the broken nytro driveshaft bolt removed its usually not that hard with some heat and ez-out.

You got it. Thanks for the advice, I'll see if I can get out to NB and talk to Wes. Else anyone else has recommendations keep them coming.

There is a machine shop in kirkland called Accurate Engines. They do all sorts of machine shop services. The owner's name is Mike, he is usually a good guy to work with.

My shop is in Preston and would be glad to help. I work on vintage race cars and have CNC and manual machines as well as full welding capabilities. My best luck with removing broken bolts is to use the TIG welder to weld a tit on to it and use vice grips to get them out, its much harder when the easy out or drill bit is broken off. I will be in the shop tomorrow probably till noon and you can reach me this evening or tomorrow on my cell 425-five o three-5728.

I agree everyone always brings it to me after they have broken of the drill or easy out. Does not leave much to weld to. My dad showed me that trick 30 years ago and Ihave removed countles bolts. The only thing I do diff. is to weld a nut onto the bolt. I have removed bolts broken off below the surface as much as .5"

95% of the time it works like a dream, the tough ones are when the bolt is galled or bottomed out until it breaks off. Like you I have removed bolts well below the surface and even 10-32 screws below the surface in aluminum. I believe the combination of heat expansion, cooling and the contraction of weld make it work so well.
