Golden West in West Yellowstone

Oh no, that's awful.

I never met Kurt in person. I hope his family is OK.

On March 2, 2015 Kurt Marsden found out he had liver disease. Then on March 17 Kurt went into the emergency room and Idaho where they found an inflammation in his stomach. The medical team did everything they could do to fight off the infection. On Friday the 27th he got pneumonia and the next morning he was moved to ICU. After being moved to ICU Kurts kidneys started to shut down. The doctors felt that Kurt would receive better care in Utah with a specialist team for liver disease. Kurt was airlifted to the University of Utah where they tried many different types of antibiotics to fight off the infection and his organs shut down. Kurt became our angel at 9:40 PM March 23, 2015. This is a very sad time for Michele Marsden and she would like to thank everybody for all the text, calls, thoughts and prayers

Kurt came out at 10pm about a month ago when we were in West Yellowstone and made a bad decision to drop a creek that didn't have enough snow and ended in a 1.5 mile hike out of the back country. Never met or even talked to him in my existence up to that point. He dropped what he was doing and came out to give us a ride back to the truck when he didn't have to. Also let us stay in one of his condos and borrow his personal sled for 2 days while we retrieved our sleds. We are forever thankful for him, his wife and friends for doing that and the Golden West has earned customers for life from us. Really surprised and taken back by this.

RIP Kurt

Did not know him but never like hearing about loosing good people suddenly. It sounds like it was time for him to exit stage left. Positive thoughts going out to help his family cope with this loss.

R.I.P. Kurt

very sad in deed and to be honest he is the reason we have been going back to west Yellowstone instead of other destinations. there are so many stories of how he helped people in one way or another. he had unlimited stories that he would share with us in his shop while feeding our crew. some one said it best when they said he was always walking 10' tall and he did too!! RIP buddy

Thoughts and prayers go out to Shell and Kurt's family. West Yellowstone will never be the same.

R.I.P. Kurt
