Gold Creek Avy?

Has anyone ever seen any slides, besides the swan lake area in the gold creek area? Was thinking of superbowl/presidents and the bowl north of the antenna....I've only be riding since 2000 and haven't seen any..

Presidents bowl rarely slides--but have seen it in bad years.

Super Bowl---can be very bad for avy's--Have seen several Avy's in there--it gets so much snow blow in there and no direct sun. Be careful on which days you go into Superbowl.

Even though GC is one of the safer areas in bad avy conditions to ride if you use some common sense.

H20SKE...

Don't go to Gold Creek.......Avy's all the time!!!
Better off going to Posers Pass!;)

Seen several lately but all small ones, one went over the groomed trail minutes before we arrived to it. Couple guys in front of us marks went under the slide and we had just spoke them minutes before. It wouldn't have covered you up but for sure woke you UP maybe pushed you of the trail!!!

I could see super bowl being pretty dangerous. It funnels down to the bottom. Not much of an escape route if things go bad.....

While I havent seen it in person- Ive seen the aftermath or evidence in all cases below:

Where the road crosses over the final ridge that you can go down towards Swan Lake or go right and cross country to the tower. Just past the open area- there are some steep hills and gullies on the right of the road- Ive seen it slide there.

The Skate Park- Ive seen it slide in several areas.

That last little bowl you drop into going to the bottom of the Super Bowl- Ive seen that hill slide.

Soooooo like Fordy says- ANY hill over 30 degrees posses the ability to slide...past experience nonwithstanding...expect any hill to slide...

I was going downhill there once, triggered one and rode it out.....It's an area no one rides to this day, but I got my old Yam SRV (standard $hitty track) real stuck and there was no way I was gonna get it back up to the trail. I finally rode over the edge of a hill I couldn't even see over, followed the drainage and came out at the road between the tower and Swan Lake in about 1/2 a mile....I was young and stupid....

A couple of weeks ago, on that beautiful sunny Sunday, we saw one across the way from the tower. Not sure which bowl that is. Big one, looked to be a natural slide.
