I don't know what happened, but on Saturday, the mountain kicked my arse!!!

Breaking the trail into our starting riding area was a chore, and up by the tower the visibility was bad with 40 mph winds. The snow was amazingly deep. It was nothing but stuck stuck stuck. Dang is my POY heavy.

I only have pictures of stucks!!!!

The first drop in the morning

The wind was blowing and making huge drifts. The above picture is papa bear claiming their was one he went into. There was, it was interesting, you are going 30 mph up the hill, then 5 ft into it you are hoping you will be able to turn out.

Man was the wind blowing. It was pretty crazy being up at the top of the ridges.

After digging out a bunch of people, myself twice included, we made our way to the warming hut to... warm up.

We decided to head over to the swan lake area and play in some other areas. Note the bowl in the background. It is normally a play area. Not this year though.

the road in and out. It is amazing sidehilling a road getting into a place. It was nice that the snow was deep enough be able to sidehill in and out on the same road.

We tried to get to a look out that we know of for lunch. Tried... and tried..
papa bears first stuck trying to get into the area.

The snow was kind of deep aye? I jumped off my sled and this is where I ended up.

Well, we got to the lookout, not how we planned though. Papa bear stuck again.

He said that he packed an area down for me to park in, so I made my way to it. papa bear, is this it? lol, burried deep again.

by about 3pm the snow was turning into mush. does this photo look like powder to you?

This is the straw that broke the camels back. I hit an whole, punched the throttle and went right into a tree. Better then being in the whole? I don't know. I do know after this stuck, number 12 or 13 that I helped out with or caused.. lol that I was toast. My arms were killing me and I was exhausted. The snow setting up didn't help either.

It was another great time. Two big powder days in a week at the end of March / beginning of April. Couldn't ask for a better close to the riding season. Hopefully we will be able to get another couple good rides in.

haha everywhere we went was a stuck fest cluster of peoples.. our group had a fair share for sure.. amazingly i only had one stuck, i must not have been doing things right?

the snow as always is way deeeper over in the swan lake area.. its just a more protected area from the winds and yesterday, holy cow, the upper lake was like 6ft.. incredible.. this is where we had a good festival..

the morning snow was amazing.. the afternoon snow was still fun just a bit heavier.. we rode from 9 to 5. i am cooooooked today.

we didn't take as many pics but we got some.. gotta get to'm still to post up...

ya it was deep, lots of digging, found out my shovel was gone, what a day to figure that out.

saturday was deeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeepppppppppp!!

spring snow conditions in the winter, and winter snow conditions in the spring? :face-icon-small-con

Wind drifts

There were alot of bad wind drifts. Be very careful climbing hills and make sure you take a good look at the hill before you hit it and know where there is big holes from the wind. At gold creek on saturday (4-3-10) our riding buddy mike wilson hit a hill goin about 30mph and smashed the s**t out of a wind drift hole and broke his knee we think.....or really messed it up bad. So everyone take a second look at those hills. Thanks

riding in flat light conditions is probably a good idea to slow down a bit.. thats when people and sleds get wrecked.. i see alot of people making poor decisions in these conditions..

yep, i still got more pics. thanks to tomMTX

wow - glad we went to Cooper Lake yesterday! Weather was much better than what your pix showed....

plenty 'o stix for our group - was great to ride in powder for a change! Did set up pretty good around 3pm....

Gallegher was WIND BLOWN today.... also windy and flat light.... bagged Gallegher and headed towards Lake Ann - played in the trees - got GOOD AND STUCK at one point.... told Steve-o not to come up.... 20 mins later, I hear his sled - I'm waving him off, so of course, he's stuck too!

AWSESOME FUN WEEKEND!

(we still have one more day of playing :D )

Damn deep day. Swan was insane. I was sp cooked by 2pm but pushed through till 5. Good times.

we also had a great night, Good to see ya Ruffy..
I owe a special thanks to the guys who spared there last water for an overheated snowhawk..still smoked a motor, seized it at least 3 times. but at least it was in the name of fun..Im still amazed the Polaris motor kept coming to life after the abuse it took.
