Going to look at a '06 Summit X tomorrow.

I'm going to look at an '06 X package Tomorrow. It has 1800 miles and all stock. Is there anything specific I need to look for as far as any problems?

06 was the best year sled ever made. If in good condition its a great mt. sled.Everything seems to be well setup on the 06, minor personal adjustments are all thats needed in most cases.

We had one in go down with 1200 miles locked up tight er than you know what. It was a 06 summit. I think it was a crank seal it would idle real high, we would have to choke it to idle down. We should have caught it but kept riding about a 1800 dollar mistake. Thats something to watch for. I also had a 06 summitx loved it . Now I have a 07 860 summit. Love the revs. Also pull the dipstick in the chain case I think they had a banch of bad chains mine had one. Make sure all y-bolts are in. Good luck

Thanks for all the info. I'm pretty excited about it as I have been riding an '01 Summit since '04. I have been looking for an '06 X package since August.

I read on here about moving the ECM to the top of the oil tank. Is it a pretty easy job?


SawKing What do you mean by Y-bolts? You talking the Y-pipe bolts?

relocating the Ecm isn't a hard job pull the connector and check for corrosion and use dielectric grease and I am sure he meant the y pipe bolts
