I had my Sled in Tri-city earlier this year took 5 weeks to get it back(they told me 3). I am still having issues and they didnt fix the issues I told them it was having while it was there. They did tell me I needed to do a top end for 400 bucks(on top of the 300 they charged me for a tune up). Not the Tri-City of old service wise. So I took her home and did the top end for 200 bucks. but I was still having issues (same issues) so I took it up to Layton Cycle dropped it off last Thursday they said it would be done this Thursday. Never had them work on a sled but when I was racing MX they helped me out a lot with my Yamaha's. Not sure why I have it in the shop being the fact that my back is messed up and my sled not working kept me from riding like the drs said, but we only live once right.:face-icon-small-hap

Layton Cycle

Eric is a good tech and he should have it fixed for ya soon. He will even sometimes take it to the hills if he feels he cant find the problem down here

Not sure if he is the service manager still, but Curt is a great guy to deal with (or was if he's now gone). Years ago when he was at Newgate (their sister store) he helped me out a number of times and went above and beyond what he needed to do to make me happy.

That's why I took it there Eric was up at Monte one day and helped out the person riding the sled said to bring it in and that he could have it done in a week. He was there when I worked for Wasatch rec when it was around the comer.

Update

NO offence to Tri-city but They had my sled for 5 weeks I paid $300 bucks and nothing. Layton Cycle has had it for a week and the found that I needed new reeds, my TPS sensor was way off My fuel filter needed to be replaced my Throttle bodies where caked full of belt dust my air box was caked full of belt dust. They fixed all of it 400 bucks including parts. Thats replacing the reeds with VForce 3's. Not only that but Eric called me up and gave me the info and I stopped by and he walked me through everything showing me everything. It will be done Tuesday due to ordering in new parts. A+ in my book so far.

I got f@%#d by tri city too!

I want to start by saying that I have a long standing great relationship with tri city. I've purchased sleds from them and the sales team is awesome. They have warrantied a few issues on my sled that they didn't have to. That being said, I recently took my sled into their shop for an electrical issue. They informed me that it would take 2 weeks to resolve issue & return my sled. 2 weeks after they had my sled they informed me that my compression was bad & I needed a top end ($800). After 1 month of my sled being in the shop, it had a fresh top end & my original electrical issue left me broke down on my first ride out. After another trip to the shop and $140 later I got the original issue repaired. It makes me second guess if I really needed a top end???

Update: Eric called me today and due to the holiday they did not receive my parts. He apologized and said it would be done tomorrow. Yes longer than expected but not weeks longer and they called me. I had to call and call and call tri-city to get up dates.

Mine did need a top end, but same issue they check and found problems charged me a tone of $$$$ and didn't fix the original issue. The other thing that bugged me is they had a list of issues and while doing my top end I check and nothing else was needed the other parts where worn but not to the point of replacement. I am in same boat as you I will buy parts sleds and most everything else from them but their service sucks now. I have talked to a few people now this year and since I posted this that feel the same way and had the same problems.

Happy

Picked up a new sled from Mike down at Tri-City. I got a great deal (for buying a sled at a dealer) and mike took care of us and got the transaction done smooth. I appreciate Tri-City in even though they know me well and new I posted this they still treat me well every time I go in there. Very professional.

I still had my 700 serviced this year by Layton Cycle. Jeremy and Eric up there are awesome, kept in contact with me and got it done. They really hooked me up and it is nice to have the guys working on your sled know you a little.

Be careful buying new vehicles from Layton Cycle.

I, personally, will never buy another vehicle from Layton Cycle again. I 2007 I bought a 2007 dragon from them and was promised by them numerous times that if I did certain mods to the sled that they would still cover it under warranty no matter what broke. I had a 4 year warranty as I did the snow check. At this point I had already bought 8 four wheelers and a sled from them before and had dealt with them for many years, so I trusted them. The winter of 2008 a piston shattered just off idle and ruined the whole motor. Took the sled in and Polaris denied the warranty because of the mods (they took pics with the SLP pipe still on). layton cycle refused to cover also. I did always get good service from them but I will never buy another vehicle from them. BE VERY CAREFUL AS THEY DO NOT BACK UP WHAT THEY SAY ON THE SHOWROOM FLOOR!!!

When Layton Cycle had Ski-doo, I bought from them. Justin treated me and my brother great so I went back, 4-wheeler and street bike later. Never had any issues with them. They aren't the high performance shop so to speak, but they will cut ya a deal on parts when ya buy from them.

That said, Troyby, I'll bet it was Polaris denying your warranty not LC, their just caught in the middle. I've heard Polaris has been very stingy about warranties the last few years. Even if you were running aftermarket two stroke oil and had a motor go down they would deny a warranty claim!

It was Polaris that denied the warranty BUT, I was specifically told by the sales manager ( I won't give the name) numerous times, that they would cover any problems under warranty. I was very specific about what the mods were that I wanted to do. When Polaris denied the warranty ( it was because of a mistake made by Layton Cycle), they should have stepped up and did what they said they were going to do. They didn't and have since lost a lot of business that I would have given them. Now I make sure to let anyone I know be aware of how they do not stand behind their word.
