going premix

i wanna eliminate my oil tank and start running premix. Im having a huge problem burning oil. Im going through a tank of oil per tank of gas. its kinda expensive. so i wanna eliminate the whole process. Any idea on why i could be burning so much oil? how difficult is it to do. thanks.

Sticky oil return spring is the problem. I wouldn't run mixed fuel in a cfi sled.

OK, I'll bite. Who has seen injectors go south from running premix? Please elaborate...:face-icon-small-con

Spring

It's usually not a missing spring but a crap spring/set-up. What I had to do was put an additional spring on the black pin at the end of the oil arm and attach it to a wing nut with a hole drilled in it that threads onto the motor mount. Work great. Also look into that sticky from Kraven and turn your oiler down by at least one full turn.

You'll further lean out an already "lean" setup in the midrange where most riding is done.

Im really new to this, so i havent a clue where the set screw is for the oil pump. Im being told you can reach it with a screw driver, but not sure which side. I went riding yesterday and i burned a gallon of oil in a single days ride. Suggestions?

Yourself or your dealer should start by verifying the pump setting. Polaris didn't plan that out well. It's a real pain to get to and more easily adjusted with the motor mounts removed.
And yes, you could have other issues there as well. Weak spring or something binding or being held open.
I set mine per spec and I'm using more oil than before. Right around a liter per tank of gas. Seems safe to me.

I think we figured it out. I put a set of SLP twins on my sled, and my throttle cable was melted to ****. so we are thinking the oiler cable melted open. it would explain the sticky throttle, and the reason it has a hard time starting. does this sound about right?
