Going Green=Going broke

As first reported by the Reno Gazette-Journal, one turbine that cost the city $21,000 to install saved the city $4 on its energy bill. Overall, $416,000 worth of turbines have netted the city $2,800 in energy savings.

I gotta ask, are they f$$king stupid?

Yep, I work at a coal mine and the EPA is doing its damdest to regulate coal into extinction and force the pulbic to buy into the "cheap natural gas" market. I'll agree that natural gas is cheap now ($2/MMBtu but it was $10/MMBtu just a few years ago) but wait until coal is crushed and the price of natural gas sky rockets. Then not only will the power bills soar, but so will heating and hot water and then the next phase will be to get everybody over to wind and solar because nat gas is just too darn expensive. As a geologist that has worked both the oil & gas and the coal industries, its very very clear that the greenies won't be happy until we're all freezing to death in the dark.

fracking PUC's... bunch of retards and housewives that don't know anything...

This is why it is never a good idea for the govt to pick winners.. always better to pick the losers..

Maybe people will finally get smart enough that the southwest US can use solar hot water heaters... yah they are unproven... like only have of fricken china uses them...

it absoultely does mean going broke !

It is the most simple principal that in order to sustain and grow the ecomomy you must use natural reasouces to make produtcs. Energy is the first link in that chain. The way alterantive energy has to be subsidized to exist ensures that this chain is broken.

Where did this come from?

The price of solar energy has dropped by huge amounts in the last couple of years, wind has dropped as well. Pretty soon they will be on equal footings. Will alternatives be ok then?

what do you mean where did this come from? its simple you must introduce new enery in order to sustain Motion or growth. where does this new energy come fron but natual resouces.

yes. when solar and wind produce more than they consume as a whole that will be a good thing and I will supports it. untill then No.

I do not believe wind as it is done presently will ever be fesible.

solar panels trickle charging batteries hooked up to power inverters are the way to go. you can find out dated solar panels that work just fine without spending 10's of thousands of dollars on a system.

or just batteries, power inverters, and a generator that runs on propane or natur gas to charge the batteries every so often. theres alot of wasted energy going on. if we conserve energy sources like theyre limited, which they are, there would be less problems.

all these problems are also a result of of too many people as the global engineers see it. they also see that the best solution is a new world order and a reduction of population. something you hear many times throughout the years. you dont just hear it from "crazy conspiracy theorists", you hear it from the big names in power as well.

ive stopped watching fox news cause i cant stand them anymore with their biased bullsh!t, but i see they always have the channel on fox at the gym and im constantly seeing Obummer speaking about green energy and talking how its a must. like theyre gonna do a mandatory switch. eventually, these green energy sources are gonna be the only sources we're allowed to use and if we use any other, there will be fines, or even jail time. those are the steps that i see happening. so do many others. hell just look at the other rediculous steps theyve taken to get to the point we're at now with our no land rigts and our no free speech rights. jail time if you talk bad.... its all just plain silly.

Isn't solar and wind a natural resource? lol

you talking finances I assume?

I do not believe wind as it is done presently will ever be fesible.
can you expand on this? What do you mean presently? What configuration should they go to?

yes but not currently viable as a replacement. if they where you still need raw materials wood ,steel etc. thats what I meant by resources . we all know how freindly the green movment is to industries such as mining and forestry.
you talking finances I assume? basically yes at this point neither would survive without subsidy.

the over- hung type fan drive is very poor . it works better if it was driven instead of being the driver. Very high maint. and very logistcaly difficult maintain.

its simple they should support the drive on both sides of the blades. theres a good reason there is no other large industrial equipment built like that. For the most part its only smaller consumer type goods that are built this way.

I also theroize that ground based equipment( more like hydro turbines) taking advantage of natural wind currents would be better. Certainly easier to maintain and most likley more efficent. however that would elimiante the visible eyesores politician are so fond of .

also I think old school water wheels like they used for grain milling back in the day should line every river in the country. Its like hydro without the dam ,green as can be and gravity never stops

huh you guys better tell all the people building wind turbines in South Dakota and minnesota. They are going up as fast as they can ship the things into the states. Yes, they are expensive at first, but the hope is that they pay off in the long run. And while NV it might not work due to lack of wind it seems that South Dakota at least has an endless supply
