Goin' sledding for the honeymoon...help!

Hi all. We are looking at going snowmobiling for our honeymoon this winter. We are from western South Dakota so Wyoming, Montana, Colorado, would be fine. He has alot of experience sledding, I have some. I like to climb (not very good at boondocking) so somewhere where I can enjoy myself with my man while he has the time of his life (what guy wouldn't want to go snowmobiling on his honeymoon!?). A nice hotel/resort/cabin would be nice also, maybe with a hot tub. Rental sleds would have to be available also as I do not own one. Also, guide service would be nice too since we are going somewhere new and wouldn't know our way around, or GPS rentals so we don't get lost if we venture out on our own.

With it being a honeymoon and so on I think the best place to be would be Jackson hole. That way you can do the Togowtee area which has everything you just mentioned and then some, plus if you want some things to do instead of just riding you both can enjoy the day or evening in the town of Jackson.

I would be a happy man if I was able to do the above.

The Big Horns Burgess Junction Wyoming, Bear Lodge has a honeymoon suite (jet tub in room), rental sleds, bar, resturant, TV, guide service.......all types of riding!!! Ride from room!!! http://www.bearlodgeresort.com Congrats, and have a great time!!!! Let us know where you decide.

Grand Mesa colorado also has some good riding, I do believe the Mesa resort rents, also look into Rabbit Ears, Buffalo Pass, I rode Buffalo Pass it was great as well!!

call Kurt at Goldenwest Motels in West yellowstone...below are some pics of the area he can guide you into...rental sleds are easy cheesy, and Kurt has some nice condos with hot tubs etc.

He is COMPLETELY top notch and will ensure a KILLER time...West is the sledders paradise!!!! loads of people to meet and have fun with, as well as all types of varieties of riding styles from trail to WOW!!!!

no need to trailer, can park sled at condo door, and rest and relax or whatever, Kurt usually has a party each night if he has a full boat of guests (which is normal) would highly suggest perusing the Yellowstone thread...lots of pages(<---link), but you will see some REALLY big comraderie, as Kurt and Shell create friends for life with their hospitality...

Do you know of any nice resorts off hand in Jackson Hole that are nice and have a good reputation?

If you stay in Jackson there are rental places all up and down the strip that will take you places. Most are park related but that might not be too bad one of the days. Otherwise stay at Togwotee, ride from your cabin or your room. (I would pick cabin for sure), they have handfulls of guides and some of the best riding area in all of the snowbelt. The reason it's so good is the variety, lots of places have one or the other but Togwotee has it all pretty much. The night life is not there but then again you won't need night life, you both will be the party! :face-icon-small-win

Stay and ride for a few days at Togwotee and then head down the hill to Jackson hole and stay at some of the places down there. I have stayed at the Trapper Inn and it was pretty good. We had a suite right on the main drag.

Togwoteelodge.com, I'm sure you have seen that.

You can't go wrong doing the Jackson thing, trust me!

I would agree with MTDream.
West yellowstone on your honeymoon would be awsome.
Plenty of night life, you can ride right thru town with the sleds.
Loads of places to stay (Goldenwest Motels being owned by a fellow snowester), pretty much anyplace you choose to stay at can arrange rental sleds.

I would also suggest you and your new hubby rent sleds and go into the park. That would be something to talk about years from now.

There are a lot of great places to ride in both wyoming and colorado, but for a honeymoon where you would (imo) want a good nightlife as well as plenty of variety for riding, not much beats west yellowstone.

Been there, done that, would HIGHLY recommend it.

Check it out. http://www.westyellowstonechamber.com/

West Yellowstone is nice but not in the same league as Togwotee Lodge. Like RJ said get a cabin. It's a lot less crowded than West & better snow. You could stay a night or two in Jackson for a change of pace or just drive to town once or twice-it's about an hour from Togwotee to Jackson.

well for what its worth..go all out..try valdez alaska ..or even soldotna..awesome place , awesome time and trip of a lifetime..

better snow? that is kind of like the less filling great taste debate...

it is all about the weather patterns...not once last year did I sled in the West area where we did not have a minimum of 2+ feet of fresh powder...and the average was 3+...more than that, and well it is stuck fest stuff...

there is a reason West is always the top or second of the charts for Western destinations for sledders..the variety of terrain, the consistent snow, and the availability...all make it the Sledders paradise...

There are tons of sledders with places in West for fellow sledders to stay, and they WILL make sure you are well taken care of!!! Kurt and Shell (GoldenWest) will make sure you come back for more...Caveman, (find him in Yellowstone section) has a nice house you can rent, and there are plenty of us that ride there during the week and on weekends, so there are plenty of guides...

Usually those who bash on it...did the normal two tops, black canyon, and trip into old faithful...and usually they stayed at a pretty big hotel with no guides to take you to fresh pow...rarely do they venture to areas where the locals will take you...that is what makes West special...the people...the location, and the POW...oh yeah, and some parties too...

You are a very special woman and he is a lucky man. :)

I'm with MTDream on this one. I've been to both and I personally like the atmosphere of west better than Jackson Hole. Jackson Hole has great snowboarding and sleding so it seems to me to have more people in the winter. You can't really go wrong with either, I guess its all opinion but I say west for sure. My .02 cents

Im a fan of cooke city my self.

The only place that is worht renting from is Cooke City Exxon/Polaris/Skidoo. It had 14 miles and when i was done wiht it it had 117. miles of jumping and dropping off cliffs. :D

Me and the wife-to-be are thinking along the same lines (God I love this woman). But for a twist, we thought we'd book in with Davidoff and ride our a$$es off for a few days. That, or Alaska has always been a dream of ours.

have fun with this and congratulations!
