Goggle lens color?

It has been a long time since I have bought goggles. The ones I was going to purchase come with what appears to be a yellow lens. Right now I have a chrome mirror and yellow/orange I believe.

What colors are good for what light conditions again? I know it varies, it has just been so long. Plus you have the polarized options now too.

I am going to order some extra lens's and want to make sure of what I am ordering. I cant find any charts to break it down.

Rose IMO seems to be best all around. Decent on sunny days but great in flat light.

Yellow is awesome in flat light and overcast. Not so great in sunny days (seems too bright to me).

Clear at night for obvious reasons.

Blue I guess on bright days? Not quite sure in this one.

Grey and/or coated lenses great on sunny bright days.

Been using the new509 orange this year. Non polarized or tinted and really like them. Have wore yellow for years but like the orange in most all conditions. These are the two colors I take always.

Your eyes will react differently to colors then other peoples.

Typically non mirrored yellow is a favorite for low light....but I know guys that cant see well with this combo.

A polarized lens would be more efficient in bright lighting conditions as it blocks the wave lengths of refracted light (glare).

NO substitute for testing them on your own eyes in the particular lighting conditions.

I have multiple pairs of 509 Sinisters and run non-mirrored orange most of the time including low light days, and clear at night. Orange seemed strange at first as I was used to yellow, but after a few minutes I found it was a great color for deffinition on the snow. Like has been stated before, everyones eyes are different, but I think you will find that the cool looking mirrored finish deminishes overall clarity in all conditions.

Have these and love them. Take all the colors with you and change them out whenever the light changes. I carry the rose/blue/yellow and buddy likes the orange. When it gets dark just take the lens off for a clear view.

I have mirrored bronze for when its bright out and prefer orange or rose for flat light.

I would suggest no chrome mirror on the lens. It wears off and makes the goggles impossible to see threw. Just threw away a 2 time use 509 lens and bought a orange no mirror for them. Was sleeting and i was using alcohal lens cleaner and goggle bag to wipe... Chrome missing all over. Busted out my 10 year old dragon dx goggles no mirror and wore them all day and cleaned them with spray and had perfect vision.

Thanks for all the replies. I do need one for bright days and one for low light. If I don't have something to cut the bright, I squint all day and my eyes burn.

I was going to get 509 Sinisters. Hopefully I can find something that works. My old reliables are just getting beat up. Too many trips through the trees playing Paul Bunyon. I can't get lenses for my old Dragons either.

If you feel like it, give me a jingle at the shop today. Or shoot me a PM and I can go over every lens option that 509 sells and every lens that comes in the new X5 out of the box. We have four guys in our shipping dept that all swear on different colors but have all tested many colors this year, and I would be happy to fill you in on what we have found. Not to mention, we have some promo product for 509 orders right now. So if you have a second feel free to contact me, and I can take care of your primary option and give good suggestions for spares. 800-615-5249 Ask for Shane. Have a great day.
