ALways ridden with clear and want to try a few different colors this year to see whats the best. I always ride with two pairs of goggles so if i kept one clear for night i could use the other to try different color lenses. I was thinking blue?

whats everyone have the best luck with?

thanks

I like Amber/yellow a buddy of mine likes the Blue/gray. Might what to try both to see what work best for you.

I like gray for definition. It helps you read the snow and see ridges and valleys better in my opinion. I've never worn polarized lenses so I cant help you there. I'm interested in if they help with definition even more???? Polarized are great for fishing by allowing you to see below the surface....maybe you can see right through snow drifts!!! LOL

I carry 4 lenses with me. I'll use my polarized/mirrored Oakleys most of the time.......even on low light days. I have persimmon lens and they work ok but I find the mirrored show the shadows better. I've tried yellow, blue and persimmon lens but for me the mirrored lens work best on both low light and blue bird days.

But always keep a clear pair for the ride down if its at night.

:beer;

For all around riding I use Scott light sensitive goggles... they automatically go dark blue during the sunny days and clear at night, all around a good fit. The only thing I don't like about them is on the overcast, socked in, flat light days when definition is horrible... they don't do me any favors then as they tend to still stay tinted dark blue, but for everything else I love em:D

thanks everyone, I might just order one of every color and make a test out of them all in different light condidtions

Every year this same question comes up and every year the same responce, every color is tried and no winners! I do believe we all see things a little differently and different colors work better for different eyes. I've tried polarized lens that made me dizzy if you looked anywhere but straight ahead, clear lens were too bright, yellow or amber come in many different shades, some good, some not so good. The amp blue have worked pretty good for me, but over-cast with snow falling days are still very tough. I too would like to find the majic lens!

ive got the 509 goggles with the polarized lense and its well worth the money for the lenses. takes most of the glare away and you can actually see the drops and creeks and such so much easier especially in the white on white conditions

The best color lens depends on lighting conditions. Grey lenses cut all light equally and are the best for viewing colors as they truely are. Yellowish, persimmon, amber, rose, etc cut light from the blue end of the color spectrum, which helps cut some of the blue haze from the sky, and enhances contrast of the red and green colors. These lenses are great for looking off into the horizon without seeing all the blue haze. The blue lenses cut more in the yellow end of the spectrum. Some people with color vision deficiencies may like the blue tints better. (Eight percent of males have some form of color deficiency.) Polarized lenses cut at least 50% of the light passing through the lens and are great for general outdoor conditions, but are dangerous in low light conditions, such as dusk to dawn. If you will ever need them at night, clear is the way to go if you only want one lens. Bottom line is there is no one color that is best for all conditions. Boils down to personal preference, and how many pairs of goggles you want to take with you. I have clear, polarized grey, and persimmon, and use them all depending on conditions. Probably wear the persimmon the most. Zeal goggles get my vote for best optical quality.

I hate wearing sunglasses so i should saty away from anything dark. Maybe ill order the yellow and blue and see how they work for me

thanks

I wear my polarized lenses during the day and switch to clear at dusk. The polarized work great for me all day but the second I lose light I swap to the clear. They are 509 goggles.

Been wearing Smith goggles for many years, they have a color called Goldlight, seems to work the best for me in most conditions, just dark enough for bright light but still gives definition on flat light days.

A few years ago one of snowests magazines did an article on which color lens to use. If I remember it correctly it said that the amber worked best followed by red or blue next then clear. It had tinted last because you couldnt see the definition of the snow. The bumps and ruts didnt stand out as clear as they should.

tried Rose, Blue and the perm

The Scott Rose was too bright on sunny days as was blue.

Rode in sun and overecast last year with the Spy perm and was very happy.

But after using 509 dirt goggle I'm gonna make 509 my next pair and I've heard tons of good about the polarized.
