Gluing Plastic

The end of my speedo sensor popped off on me and I've been trying to clue it back together with no luck. A new one is $41 plus a pissed off wife since I've gone over my budget already this year.
I've tried super glue then tried JB Weld but didn't really get all the super glue off. Thought I might try the JB again and cleaning it good.
Any suggestions for gluing plastic together???

Find a plastics supply house in town... if you know what plastic it is, there's solvents that will melt it. Bring in a chunk if you don't know.

Don't get the stuff on you though... burns like a sonofab*tch.

Could also use a plastic welder or soldering iron and polish it up with a dremel.
