Glocks???

Just bought a Glock 20c 10mm and a new style glock 22 in a 40. How many people on here have Glocks and whats your favorite?

I have the Glock 22C (.40 S&W). The "C" stands for compensate as the barrel is ported. Great gun I love it. I actually went to the shooting range with the intent to buy a H&K, but the Glock out shot it (for me anyway).

I had the Glock 22 .40 for a long long time for my service weapon. It was a decent gun I guess...I LOVE my XD Springfield...much better gun IMO. Plus you can buy American!

Most of our officer's Glock receivers cracked right by the end of the barrel....Glock had to send all of us new receivers and then there were 2 serial numbers on the gun...what a cluster. I wouldn't personally buy one...I hate the 8 lb trigger pull too.

I would imagine they fixed the cracking of the receiver by now....so like I said it is a decent weapon....it is very dependable and I don't think I ever had a jam or an issue with it firing.

The XD is about as American as a Glock...the XD was designed and is currently made in Croatia based on the Croatian PHP pistol from HS Produkt (formerly I.M. Metal). The majority of the Glock is made and assembled in Smyrna, Georgia but was designed in Austria.

I'm a Glock and and XD armorer, so I'm intimately familiar with both pistols. The standard Glock trigger is approximately 5.5 lbs. Depending on the trigger spring installed, it can be up to an 8 lb trigger (commonly referred to as a New York Trigger). You can make it as light as 4 lbs with a 3.5 lb connector and spring.

The original Glock 22's had some problems that have since been solved. The Glock 22's available today are all good to go. Glock's generally have better fit and finish and always have fewer parts that can fail. Glock's also don't require as much lube to run well. Don't get me wrong, they must be lubed appropriately, but they don't need as much oil as a Sig or XD. Some shooters don't like the "upright" grip angle of the Glock.

The original XD's had problems of their own including premature slide lock and finish issues. Most of these problems have been solved on the current XD and XDM's available today. Most shooters, especially those used to 1911's, will prefer the grip angle of the XD's. XD's also like their lube. A wet XD is a happy XD. Lastly, with an XD, shot different rounds through it to see what it likes. They definitely have a preference. When shooting the correct rounds (bullet weight, design and manufacturer), they will shoot tighter groups than a Glock.

Hope this helps.

thats good to hear, i just got a XD over a glock....

the best glock you can own...

is one thats for sale.. to buy something else.. :D.. stick with springfield or the M&P around the same money but much better quality..

i have a glock 19 and a 26 and am looking for a glock 18:D
i have shot them side by side with my buddies XD and i liked my glock more. the XD is a very nice weapon but it seemed the glock fit me better so i also shoot better with it. jmo

Glock 23 here and I love it. My dad has an XDM. Both seem to be good weapons, just the preference of the shooter. You can't get a much simpler weapon to operate and tear down then a Glock. If my girlfriend needs to use it, there's not much to forget or screw up, just point and shoot.

Have a Glock 21 for my duty weapon and a Glock 27 for off-duty. Love the 21, but the 27 is too wide for a sub-compact and is sometimes hard to conceal. Anyone got a Kahr PM-9 for sale? :)

Now that's an opinion formed out of knowledge...Rare for Snowest!;)

(I trimmed down your statement a bit)

I own an XD-45 and my wife shoots an XD-9.
We love the reliability and "Intuitive" nature of the XD. Literally a point and shoot.
Even shots from the hip are easier on target.

Didn't care for the glock's upright grip at all.
Reach out with your bare hand and point at your target, that's what an XD feels like. The clock requires a "downward point"

Just my opinion though.

The "downward point" problem is common with some shooters, especially those who have a preference for 1911's. Some shooters new to Glocks have a tendency to hit high.

I've always said, if all I did was work on guns, I'd want everyone to have Glocks. If I needed a pistol to make a precise shot, I'd want a Sig.

I prefer the Glock trigger to everything except the Sig single action trigger pull. Even after close to 10,000 rounds (approx) through several XD's and XDM's, I don't like the trigger. On the XD, it's difficult to feel the trigger re-set and I don't like the amount of initial trigger take-up. However, if anyone is looking for a near perfect trigger for an XD, check out the work at Springer Precision (http://www.springerprecision.com/). I have nothing to do with them (not a friend, hunting buddy or in business), but the guy does phenomenal work.
