Glenwood Springs Co?

Just looking at a job there and was wondering how the area is as far a hunting and snowmobiling, but also just how the town atmoshpere is rich and upitty or fairly normal? thanks

It is a great location for both hunting and snowmobiling. There's a huge elk population and several places to snowmobile (flattops above New Castle, Sunlight near Glenwood, Grand Mesa toward Grand Junction, 1hr from Vail, etc). Check out http://www.coloradosledcity.com/

The town is cool, pretty laid back. The whole area has become expensive due to being close to Aspen as well as the strong job growth in the natural gas business.

Hope this helps.

i live in snowmass village..

to buy a home get ready to spend big money, where i live houses are going for an avg. of 1700 a foot and in aspen 2300. down valley maybe 500ft on avg. this place is crazy but very beautiful and great riding.. 5 ski mtns within 40 miles.. i enjoy my life

It is not cheap to live here, fuel is more, groceries are a bit more, houses are unreal. We live within 5 minutes of Marion trail head in Carbondale, you have 4-mile out of Glenwood, Flattops out of Glenwood/New Castle, Basalt Mtn.(45 min), Grand Mesa (2 hr), Vail (2-3hr depending on weather and traffic). Hunting is good as well, you are close to many areas. Very nice area nothing beats living where you are surrounded by the mtns!!

I live in the Vail Valley (Edwards) and it is more costly than Glenwood. There is an adjustment to the high cost of living, but I think it is much more managable in Glenwood. The flatops are a small drive away and host the largest elk population in the world as well as some of the most diverse snomobile terrain in the state. Beautiful area.

Just moved to Gypsum, about 20mi East of Glenwood, just on the other side of the Canyon. As said, hunting and snowmobiling are pretty much 2nd to none.
Expensive, YES! but w/ my company, salary was commisurate?? sp w/ the cost of living. I looked in the whole Vail Valley, Roaring Fork Valley, incl Glenwood, Rifle, etc and found Gypsum to be the most reasonable for buying a house. Got a nice, 2 yr old custom home for $194/sf. Would be an easy commute to Glenwood most days of the year, and when it's not......SNOW DAY!
Good luck in your endeavors.
