Glaciers.....BE CAREFUL!

When we made the 1st tracks last week up Baker Pass we purposely stayed extreme far left to stay out of the glacier.

The next day, the sun came out and lots of peeps came up, which is great, but to see people riding up by the uglies this early is scary.

We lost a local rider on the Pemby snow cap....Baker has claimed its fair share of riders.

PLEASE THINK ABOUT THE FACT THAT WE HAVE HAD A FEW BAD YEARS IN A ROW AND THE GLACIERS HAVE CHANGED. THERE IS A MUCH HIGHER RISK NOW THAT A CREVASSE IS JUST COVERED THAN THERE WAS 5 YEARS AGO.

When the entire mountain is wide open, why add the extra risk for no extra gain? The juice is not worth the squeeze!

You are right....It is WAY too early to be up by the Uglies.... Usually ok late January or February!!!! But STILL Dangerous!!!!!

I am not sure what day you are talking about. Totally agree though, when we went up tuesday, a couple of us tried the right side, and where turned back because it was a dead end, the uglies still sticking out of the snow. People were even sitting up there, I wasn't sure if they lost a sled or what, but I turned back and went to the far left with our group. I have been riding up there off and on for a few years but still will not feel comfortable without a responsible group to go ride with. To much **** to get lost in. Anytime I see a post of guys asking, "how to ride baker" or " where do I go". It's scary, we don't need rescue missions either, looks bad for the sport.
Sorry for the rant, had a couple drinks but in all honesty some may agree.
