Glacial Serac falls into sea (pics)

We watched the Hubbard Glacier calve off a 500 foot serac into the sea last week in Alaska.

It never gets old. Dude They're just up the road from Great Falls MT...a few days up the road, but just head north.

Pretty big wave, it rocked the boat (er.....ship) pretty good.

we up there last year. Everyone should take has to see that area of the world once. it is undescribable.....the water looks like cement water.

Here is the wave coming at us, maybe a 30 to 50 foot wave.

Here's what's left of the serac laying in the water. This is about 10% of it showing above the waterline.

When the wave finally got to us it felt like about a 15 foot rise. We were about 1500 yards off of the glacier.

After everything settled down they dropped a tender boat into the water and fished out a piece of the serac as a centerpiece for the dinner table. The kids loved that.
