Nice Don looks like a fun spot...you have to stay on the road there correct?

We stayed on the road BUT we unloaded from Greenhorn and our goal was to see a big tree. There were off trail and meadows along the way prior to the wilderness but no base.

Ride on map was 29 miles but odometer read 40+ miles so we went to Ponderosa "genral store" had lunch ... talked with the owners ... AND GOT GAS.

The amount / type of snow on the ground made us dodge rocks and stumps on the meadow rides. Stll bounced off a couple fallen trees.

So what better to do than go on a unique view ride?

If you are coming from Lemoore then less than 100 miles.

Take the 190 east (It is a nice road) to the end.

At the end of the road is the Ponderosa Inn ... about 2-3 miles from the trail of 100 giants. The above pictures are within feet of the trail of 100 giants.
The Ponderosa Inn is a bed and breakfast log cabin appearace general store with a pool table. Very popular for the summer biker crowd. Food / beer prices are reasonable. Gas is $5.00 a gallon but it is the only gas Station on the trail to fill up the sled.
Elevation at the INN is 7200 feet.

Look at trail system here

I would call up the Ponderosa Inn to see conditions.
Elevations are 6000 to 8000 feet.
