Getting rid of the Challenger Lite 07 XRS

Camo 9941...www.tracksusa.com less $$ than the Doo track, same basic track but fully clipped and no holes down the center, you can add your own (or not). That's what i did and IMo the best all-around track made. :beer;

I don't really get why everyone is complaining about the tracks on the Xrs's, the Lites work perfectly fine, there is no hymark or area that everyone else in my group can get to that I can't. I think its all in peoples heads that some guy started a rumour complaining about his track, when really it was the rider. pinning it until you are stuck in a 2 foot hole can happen with any track.
save your money.. unless your track is flying apart that is...

I agree that it's more than enough track to ride around on...and that I really don't think it's held me back. BUT there is room for improvement in the fluff, plus at the rate they seem to wear at is quite fast....Mine with 850 miles looks like my old sled's track with 3000 miles...or worse

Have you tried a Rev equipped with a different track.....I have and chucked the Camo-Lite soon after; and have never looked back. It's all dependent on how the snow is set-up, but in deep, dry powder conditions, the Camo-Lite is JUNK! 9979 Challenger, ported 2.3 x 162 is the ticket IMO.

We did side by side tests with identical sleds, same susp settup, same clutch settup, traded riders and there was no question the stock '07 track was a trenching machine. We played with the susp to try to make it work and no luck. ALL the '07's I ride with went to the Camo challenger and it made them all a different and much improved sled. These were 159's. The stock track worked OK in spring/settup snow, but wow did it tend to trench and lift the skis in the deep. The Camo equipped sled would climb right by it with good speed and just keep going. JMO-:beer;

I went with the challenger extreme, 156, with 2.5 paddles. Required a driver swap but it was quite a difference.

lite'r could be better..?

I have done similar.. mind you not with two Xrs's but others were adrenaline's with P-max's .. found no difference, we all ride together and found there to be no significant difference (I'm talking nothing we can observe) from trip to trip, with snow conditions constantly changing, we are all on clicker 3 on the clutch aswell. we are constantly changing riders/machines. one guy has an XP and he seems to get stuck a little less then we do, but nothing I'd run out and swap my sled for (plus he currently uses 5 belts to my 1).
to be honest I find the Challenger lite to excell in hard pack, I beat all of them on a flat hardpack drag race, not substantially, but by 2-3 sled lengths. it seems the vertical stiffening bars on the track seem to provide great bite! the XP get smoked by me (nice pun) but that is just due to the poor gearing from factory. I don't honestly know if its the track thats the difference or perhaps just tuning.

but hey, it's all personal preference, someguys go out and buy all new Klim's because they don't match the color of their sled anymore, some guys go buy new tracks when their current one is still good because they figure it will gain them 3 feet on that hill climb.?

possible options...

but hey, if you are really concerned about trenching I know of a few bombardier groomers that have some pretty sweet tracks.. I believe they are a 300' x 24' with steel cleats, I can sell you a few bogies from my 1975 olympic 300 to retro-fit it! :D:D
sorry to be a jackazz, but i just don't think it's worth it unless your track is pooched..

00 cents.

No question that on hard pack the Chal-lite rocks. when 4 sleds go up a hill in 3' of fresh powder. I get the same place as they do usually. When we look back. my track/trench is at least 6" deeper than theirs. Just thinking how i would kick they rears if i wasn't sinking deeper all the time. other that that the 07 XRS 159 is a great sled.

Was trying to find a used p-maxx track myself actually, and I don't care what anyone says the challenger lite track is a trencher. Yeah the challenger lite is better on hardpack....but I didn't spend 12 000 to stick to the hardpack.. And when your trying to out highmark your buddy or playing in the trees you do want the best track for that machine.

Maverick

I have a 07 XRS 159. Need to get rid of the trencher on my sled. What is the best fit for my sled and the best powder track availible for it?

I had a 07 XRS... Put the 162 Maverich on it & never looked back.. Loved it. It is very fast on the road and in 10 inches of fluff across the meadow,,, I know what you are thinking,,, a 162 isn't for road racing.... It works great in 5 feet of new snow, & better in the tight trees.... Talk about a track that doesn't trench,,,, wow. Very forgiving. My buddy even had one on a 1000 RT & loved it.

challenger lite

anyone want to buy a challenger lite, I agree that it is a bit more of a trencher. I did shave a bit off the back of the ribs to get some more flex out of the paddles. If I can't sell it I may keep shaving until happy or it grenades.

I think the only time a track (any) will actually flex would be in a hard pack condition or walking it. when these things are in powder I highly doubt that the frozen rubber track paddles are gonna flex with all that fluf and slippage in there.
have you ever tried to bend one with your hand? even a little? try bend a paddle on an Apex!! keep in mind there are over 100 of them in contact with the snow surface at any given time.
if you didn't butcher your track and it was a 151 I'd be interested. I personally see nothing wrong with the lites.

a lot of times I think guys are using the track as a scapegoat for why they can't climb like their buddies. 00cents

ha ha ha, how many XP's have the challenger lite on them? i know of dealers that sold 120+ snowchecks and not ONE sled was ordered with the challenger lite. it's great in the spring time on hardpack snow but other than that it's worthless.

I don't doubt that, but I can safely assume that 90 of those 120 guys don't even know what track they actually have on their XP or be able to tell the difference.
but hey! if the brand new challenger lite track you took off your sled didn't work for you is worthless, send it on over to me! (i'll even pay shipping) and i'll enjoy it!

p.s. if you also have an almost new full set of Klim riding gear that doesn't match the color of your new sled, I'll gladly take that off your hands too! (I'm a size Large).:D

anyway, this thread is going the wrong direction for the question Sierra asked so I really don't need to keep elaborating on the defence of the Lite, I just felt that it worked equivalent to my observations, thus him not having to spend a grand needlessly

Why are you so PRO keep the lite???
It's not your sled, it's not your money.
The guy is not happy with it along with 80% of the people who own one so maybe help the thread out and tell him what he WANTS to hear.

With that said -
Easy fix powdermax 2.25 w/ 2.52 pitch
Better fix powdermax 2.313 w/ 2.86 pitch
Best fix extreme 2.5 w/ 3.0 pitch

What drivers are you runnin with the extreme?

Well I haven't got the extreme yet but I leaning towards trying to fit it in with 8 tooth drivers. Heard it can be done.
The guy from Avid said the CNC'd drivers are 1/4" smaller and said it would fit...just wish they weren't $117 a piece.

Otherwise I'd try the Avid 7 tooth molded drivers just because they're bigger dia. and cheaper.

Hillclimber- what are you running for drivers?
