getting rid of heat?

Ok, long story short, love the sled, but hate that I have to sit and let it cool off sometimes. So basically on a limited budget which is better: a full vent kit (or cat panels) or the Evo IC fan kit?

Looking to pick up one or the other here right quick, but probably not both as of now. The wifey is pregnant, so I get to get one. :ban: :face-icon-small-hap

Also not a belt blower yet, but only have ~160 miles or so on it so far.

You have the option of cutting in vents yourself if you have the tools, time and patience for fairly reasonable $$. You would need some metal mesh and some rivets. I cut in all my vents on my 1100 just so I could have what type and where. The intercooler fan works great to bring down the intake air temp.

I made my own put these ones in and some by my knees and when I first did them I noticed my knees would stay a lot warmer on the trail.

Those are nice, but not sure I'm patient enough for it. Would probably just buy…but out of curiousity how do you attach the mesh to the frame? And where do you get the plastic for the frame?

And is it better to lower intake temps, or get rid of under hood heat in general? I get that they affect each other, but which is better to start with?

Thanks. It is just pet screen from menards and also the plastic. It was by the plexiglass. First I just screwed the frame on with the mesh under and the knee vents I superglued and used plastic push tabs but they break pretty easily. I had one of the front frames break and I used hot glue between the frame/hood, seems to be holding for now. Next I want to switch the screws/tabs out for metal rivets.

I have a fan kit and vents on the rear pannels where your knees are. Never had a heating issue. The amount of heat that comes out from under the hood when the fan is running is amazing. I have over 1000 miles on orginal belt with this set up so I would venture to say that it is helping keep things cool.

Vents help?

That's interesting to hear.

What do you have for a sled, a 1100T 162"???

Good to know.

You think the knee vents are necessary for that or do you think you'd have gotten by for a while with just the stock vents?

If you would've bought mine you would've had all the goodies you speak of. You could've changed to a longer track for cheaper than what your about to spend. That evo stuff is a one stop shop for you just call em up and drop several g's she'll be a ripsnorter then.

I run a evo fan kit. I just added the mod rod knee vents this year. They let a lot of heat out. Being a m 1100 t guy I think the vents, fan kit, and evo bvr valve are the 3 major musts on this sled. After that any thing you do is a bonus.

Evo fan kit is $200 to much if u get on spals website u can buy the same exact fan for around $65 delivered to your door and all u have to do is to down to your local auto parts store and get the can mount kit and the easiest way to wire it in is to just use the 12v wires from your acc plug the fan works awesome and helps a lot

Haha, this is true. But I don't want a longer track; and I didn't have to figure out how the heck to get your sled clear out here. Plus, its a year newer, and only had 12 miles. :boxing: :face-icon-small-hap

Got part #'s?

I wired mine up using the 12 v accessory plug power i just made a harness from the fan to the plug and used male spades to plug the wires in to wires that go in to the back of plug I never used the plug for anything else and it is already fused
