get avalanche airbag tank filled in Utah?

Hi All,

Did a search in the Utah forum and found nothing. Where can we get our avalanche backpack airbag tanks filled?

I called Sports Chalet in West Jordan and asked the manager there. He said no one has ever asked that before. He said bring in the tank and they would take a look. I read on another forum (not Utah specific) that Scheels does?

I also just found out Scuba Utah and Dive Utah will refill them.

depends on the bag, i got a BCA and i get mine filled at a scuba shop of 31st street in ogden

Most Scuba shops should refill a BCA pack. I think Dive Utah charges something like $5 for a refill, making it well worthwhile pulling the trigger at least once a year. Other packs, best to check with a dealer

I could fill it for you at the fire station I work at, but it's probably cheaper in fuel to go to a dive shop and have them do it.

Only if they have the fitting, and only if it is a bag that uses compressed air. Some of the packs (ABS) don't use compressed air and for those bags you have to send the empty canister back to a dealer (snowbigdeal) and they fill it and send it back. The compressed air style (bca) can also be filled at a paint ball shop, again, only if they have the correct fitting.

Rixster is correct. They have to have a "Scuba fill station" fitting in order to do it. You might get lucky and call your local fire station and ask them. I know we would probably do it if asked, but some of the bigger metro departments might not.
