Subject: FW: Hassler Recreation Area

hi i just thought that everyone should see this. We all figured it would only be a matter of time before they wanted to shut down these riding areas. I sent a email to the dawson club asking what we could do to help them out.

Subject: Hassler Recreation Area

At last nites club meeting, alot of concerns were brought up in regards to what is happening with our riding areas in the Pine Pass. It has come to our attention that the Greenies if I can use that word have proposed and have approval to shut down almost 25 KMs of trail and riding area known as "Old Friend". We know that soon enough they will be moving closer to us and we as a Northern Group which includes FSJ, Chetwnd, Tumbler Ridge, Mackenzie and Dawson Creek want to begin action to protect our right to ride the area known as Hassler.
We are beginning to ask questions into securing the trail into Hassler first of all as a designated , registered or tenured trail. Is there a current tenure or registration? If there isn't can we begin the process? Does it have to use the Paradise Valley Snowmobile Association name or could we use the Northeast Snowmobile Coalition? If we do not act now, we know what the future holds. Can you offer us some help?

Richard

Well, just like I thought...more areas taken away. It doesn't look good for any of us mountain sledders. Now with the new regulations for insurance in January for all sleds on crown land, is there going to be any place left for us to ride???? I am just fuming mad over all of this.....

This is what happens when you have a University in your area, haven't they already taken enough land away for there studies. Its sad but the ministry of tourism is the only ones who will have a say in Government its up to them.

These university twats just keep getting grants over grants to continue to study the same thing the clowns before them studied 25 years ago. They will never find a reason to drop the studies, being the Cariboo herds etc, because it's a repeat thing, and our tax dollars feeding them.It has been proven many times they are wrong, yet get the support of some clown who wants to start heli-skiing, hiking tours, whatever, and they climb all over snowmobilers. We have been down this road for years in the Barkerville area and the Prince George areas, where has evryone been? But as usual, never any support from many sledders until it's too late. Williams Lake had the balls to demonstrate right down town, kudos to them!
I suggest to close all university programs about wildlife and nature studies, and introduce turbo 4 stroke studies instead, and how to make them better. Hell, I would even go back to school!

I think we need more sledders getting involved in these programs at unbc, anyone looking for a new career? I have been reading about some of the area's they are studying and if something isn't done soon we are in trouble, sledding is a sport and it is part of our heritage i wish they would leave hard working taxpayers alone. Remember take whatever you bring in back out with you, don't litter it only give them more reasons to shut us down.

I have to agree with you kane13, greenies out of Smithers, BC, are on a rampage also. More and more LRMP's. We also had a european jerk over in our neck of the woods, wanted to start a heli- ski operation that would give him exclusive rights to a hugh amount of land in our riding area. We almost lost it, can you imagine? We already have lots of "no motorized vehicles allowed" areas. Always someone trying to shut us down. It's a constant lookout to protect what we have. As snowmobilers we have to band together or face more closures. Or soon we maybe extinct!!
