Gelling up information you should know!

FYI, I always thought treatment would keep a guy out of trouble. This is a KNOWN fact and just got off the phone with Powerservice rep. This is a quote right from there advertising.
This is the product of choice for optimal winter operation. Diesel Fuel Supplement® contains the most effective antigel additive package available in the diesel industry - no blending with No.1 diesel or kerosene is needed to achieve maximum winter protection. The cetane improver in Diesel Fuel Supplement provides up to 2

Treatments will ONLY draw down fuel 25-30 degrees! This means if you have fuel with #1 in it and are good to 0 degrees with treatment you will be -25..-30. NOT 40 degree draw down like they lead you to believe.

If your existing tank is summer fuel and is good to 30 degrees, with treatment you will ONLY be good to zero at best no matter how much treatment you put in.

I have seen alot more gelled up trucks this year than EVER before. It is a combination of ULSD and Biodiesel. Alot of truck stops are mixing bio and reg. diesel to make xtra $..they are getting caught doing it too.

this is good info as i have seen the effects of truck stops blending bio and reg diesel in my underground equipment. if you don't know its there it will plug injectors and make for extra dirty fuel filters also. however if you are running straight #2 it is pretty common knowledge that it is good down to -7f. but like himark said if it is blended with bio you can throw that all out the window.

straight #2 will start to form wax crystals at about +15f but is still viscous down to -7f. here is a link that has some good info on cold weather operation more geared toward the cummins but has some good generic info as well

All I know is that it is freaking COLD outside. Really haven't had too much trouble in years past gelling up and now have had 2 tractors and 1 pickup gel up so far. Sounds like Christmas day might be a little warmer. 32* will feel like a heatwave!

It sure shows that hter are doing something to the winterblend here. Finding out the hard way as I have had no issues in the past

cold!!! cold!!! cold!!!!

Here in south dakota we have had the last two weeks with between -10 to -25 for the last two weeks for lows and highs maybe if were lucky to get above 0 but it isnt the cold that hurts. Its the 20 to 40 mph winds we get with this cold. even my knipko gelled up yesterday. Its sucks to farm in this weather but we get done with chores and either wrench on the sleds or take a short run with them even in this cold weather. Got to love it!!!!!
