Gearing to ride trails

I plan on doing some trail riding on my 900, so I installed a 1-tooth larger top sprocket (now 21-40).
Unable to test until I arrive where there is snow, what can I expect?
Trying to keep rpms down as I'll just be loafing along the groomed trail enjoying ride and scenery - should I have gone to 22-tooth top instead?

I would have ran up to a 24 or 25 tooth top. Still gives ya some punch and yet keeps you in the cruise range ya want.

Oops - that's what I was afraid of - guess I didn't go big enough on the top gear.
I don't want to go fast, just to cruise along trails at lower RPM's.
I'll order a top gear with more teeth, and a new chain, and try again.

Like I said I run 24 top and 37 bottom on one switchback then the other switch back I use to run 25top and 40 bottom. The 25 top and 40 bottom setup was better for trail riding and boondocking. The 24/37 setup was good for just trail riding
