Gearing on 99 mod

Im going regear my 800xcr thats in a 99 RMK. I currently have a 21 top and 39 bottom sprockt, I would like my ratio to be about 2.15. I have found 2 different top sprockets and 3 differnt teeth bottom onces, my question is do you have to use a certain combination of sprockets to work with the chain. I have a 17 and 21 top and 37, 38, 39 bottom and would like to use two of these rather than buy 2.
