I always thought my revs went up after a lower gearing change. Others are convinced RPM drop after the gear change. Do lower gears equate to lower clicker settings or am I halucinating?

YUP, Gear down LOSE rpms.. Secondary senses LESS load and upshifts FASTER.
My setup is: 07 adreniline stock secondary(44 degree helix) 160-350 primary spring with2mm oversize rollers (5 gram heavier than stock) with RK Tek head. I run at clicker 4at 8300 +- RPM at 5000 ft elevation with 450 mains. I want to run at clicker 3 but i cant get revs at that setting. My pins are hollow with all weight removed, I've even ground 1.5 gram off of the ends of the pin to gain RPM.
Obviously I could run stock rollers but I,m stubborn. If I was content at clicker 4 could I gear down which will lower revs slightly. Will the faster/ higher upshift in the secondary gain more track speed than the higher gearing setup?
