gear down

it's possible to put 2013-15 quick drive gear 21/44 to replace 22/43 on stock axys whit stock axys belt with tensioner if need

I posted a couple weeks ago about a gear down and a guys said he did just what you said

I don't understand the gear down mentality. I think the gearing is good on the QD Axys sleds and too low on the 3" chain drive Axys sleds. My friend put a 174 Camoplast track on his Axys and geared it up (chain drive) for better track speed. It is running an SLP pipe, head and Carl's porting but that is a heavy track.

There are guys on here that have said track speed is better on the stock geared 3" than when they tried to gear them up.

Anyone actually done this mod? Re-geared with the Pro pulleys? If so, any opinions on good / bad / otherwise?

Curious, as I have a gear down kit for my Pro, leaving me with a "free" gear down setup for the Axys. But if it's negligible gains, I'd skip dong the Axys...

I did it a couple weeks ago, the belt tension seems to be the same as with the stock pulleys. obviously haven't ridden it yet

I used arp. I had some left over from when i put an axys driveshaft in my pro. I think they are 10x1.25x45 if i remember right

I sell the TKI belt drive kits so I have had the opportunity to try different gearing in both the Pro-Ride and AXYS. I like both at 2.25:1 with stock clutching or 2.42:1 is even better if you are willing to clutch the sled to force the clutches to upshift with the lessened torque on CVT.

The AXYS with the quickdrive already runs similar gearing to 2.25:1 stock because of the 7 tooth drivers.

If you simply go to 2.42 without doing clutching, expect the sled to be revy and lose trackspeed.

What are you doing with the clutching? Im running 68g belly busters with stock springs and helix with my slp pipe

You need to make it shift out easier. We use a helix that has a steeper angle. You can also try a softer secondary spring but risk slipping the belt in the secondary. We actually use a slightly stiffer spring with the steeper helix to make sure there is good belt grip and fast backshift.

I was going to go to a carls cycle helix which i think is a 62-42-40 /60-40-40. Do you think it needs a steeper angle all the way through?
