Gear case breather

I would'nt plug it, it needs to breath. I've rolled mine over many times and have never had a leak issue. Do you have the hose attached to breather fitting?

Case hose

I have the same problem. Roll my sled over and the oil leaks out and makes a mess. The same goes with the oil reservoir. It leaks through the breather. But with the case if you block it off, when its time to find room for expansion it might go to the weak link as it being a seal or gasket. That wouldnt be good. So i would rather deal with a little mess i can clean up instead of seals that need replaced. I relocated the hose to make clean up a little easier. Thats my .02

I think I am going to cut the finger off a latex glove and zip tie it over the end of the hose to prevent seepage. This is starting to sound bad LOL.......ok let me have it:eek:

^^You'll still be blocking off air if you do that.

Do you guys really roll your sleds that much to have to worry about it??
Maybe try not rolling your sleds so much.

When I get stuck, a lot of times it's easier to just roll the sled over than dig it out. I think the plastic grommet will breath enough even if I plug the tube. And for years the chain cases were non-vented, so why the change?

The older chaincases were vented in the dipstick. You could try to install a barbed fitting and install a small primer sized vent line that runs to the bottom so that it would be higher than your oil when your sled is upside down.
