Gates Carbon belts

FYI - I've got several of the 45C4553 belts in stock. Have had to turn away quite a few orders and been waiting over a month to get them in, but they are here!

how does the Gates belt affect belt deflection? does it need to sit higher? Lower? In my summit it had to sit a little lower.

The couple I have used have been a hair wider than the polaris 183.
The diameter was the same. It was ever so slightly higher in the secondary than a new 183. Belt work great for me.

We had been going through the stock belts really quickly on Turbo applications. We switched to the Gates Carbon belt and it has been a huge upgrade. Better belt life, better performance, less fade, etc. It is actually made the sled run better, as it eliminated some occasional turbo pop. We are switching our stock sleds over to the Gates as well, as they just seem more consistent.

We had one of the stock belts completely grenade, and take out the oiler. Supposedly the Gates belts just break into lots of little pieces, but we have not had one go yet. Time will tell if this is an added benefit.

A little off-topic, but we have also been installing the TPS guard from the 15 Pro on the underside of the Axys oil shelf. This helps keep a belt from sliding up around the oil line during a failure. They removed this part when they moved the TPS on Axys sleds, but should have left it on for the oil line protection.

how are you doing this? are you removing the oil jug and disassembling everything in order to rivit the guard in place?
I have the guard sitting on the bench, but have yet to install it because it looks like it is going to be a big job to install.

thanks
