Gas pouring out of xp

On my 08, when parked downhill, gas just runs out right above my left front shock. It has never done this before last weekend, whats goin on? What can be done? Is it just running out of a vent or something?

Anyone have this problem?

There is a vent line I think that exits there. There is I think at least one valve, maybe two. Sounds like something wrong. Try loosening your gas cap when it happens to see if the tank is pressurized and if it stops the flow.

Good Luck

gas

When i was riding sat.i stopped on a downward slope to help someone get unstuck, and when i got back on my sled i smelled gas real bad,i thought nothing of it, thought it was the other guys sled, from rolling over, will have to keep my eye on that, any more info would be appreciated, hopefully not a hose clamp or something coming loose. This was on an 09.

The 01 and 02 summits did this when sitting on the trailer and filling them up. you need to check and make sure the vent line is still routed properly, it may not be high enough to stop the flow when the tank is full and pointing down hill.

over flow vent comes out there with the tank going to the back of the seat it don't take much of a incline to raise the back of the tank over the overflo

When I loaded my 09 X in my truck I had to leave the tailgate down so the sled stayed level or the fuel just leaked out the overflow. Dealer said it wasn't a problem, its just what the sled does with a full tank of gas on the downhill.... I guess something Skidoo needs to look into to change on the 2010???

Thanks a lot guys. Jim, I might look in to the Gas Stop after I talk to my dealer. It was in there last week for the drive shaft update and a wiring harness update so maybe they moved something. Will find out tomorrow.

Once again, thanks guys.

Make sure it is not the fuel pump I have seen about 2 fuel pumps with the bellow blown and 3 with the some kind of freeze dimple blown out. It will just barely leak hard to find problem.

over flow tube

Yes the tank vent tube comes out there. I re routed mine to go like on a motorcycle. Easy to do as it is only zip tied.

Called the dealer, he didn't know where the vent was for the gas tank. So, I didn't do anything to it. Took it up last weekend, parked on many down hills and didn't have a problem. I dont know what was goin on, but I couldn't get it to do it this weekend. Maybe just one of those freak things? Oh well, guess I will just see if it happens again.

Thanks guys

Got Mine Fixed

I had the same thing happen to my sled while it was parked in the trailer with a full tank of gas. Apparently on the front right side (if on top of sled) of the gas tank there is another cap that allows access to the inside of the tank. The cap had been put on with the gasket seal partially smashed by the cap.

After removing the seat and supports we were able to see where the leak was. We replaced the gasket and placed the cap on correctly and have had no problems since.

Might be the problem with more than just my sled.
