Gas guage icon not showoing up on guage of 2012 Pro Assault

Just as it says, my gas icon/ low fuel icon are not showing up on my Assault's guage cluster. The pgs. 34-35 of the owner's manual is specific it should be there and says to bring the sled in if it's not showing up (I actually found it odd the owner's manual would even specifically mention this, so I'm assuming I'm not the only one...).

The owner's manual also says "If the fuel icon fails to display, an open or short circuit has occured in the fuel sensor circuit. See your dealer."

Ok, being I hate other people working on my equipment (that, and my local dealer's maintenance shop has a horrible reputation), anyone have any tip on how I could go about fixing this issue?

Thank you everyone in advance,

Mike aka SS

If my sled is supposed to have this feature it's news to me. I have run it out once and run it very low many times.

Read your owner's manual -- the guage has an icon for low fuel and an icon on the right side for fuel level. It's supposed to work. Mine doesn't either.

the gauge has the ability but that fuel pump system does not. they use the same gauge on multiple machines. there is no sending unit on the pros to the gauge showing any sort of fuel level. they did not/ and were not suppose to come with this feature hence the gas gauge in your gas cap.

Ahhhhhh, so maybe the standard RMK's have the digital fuel guage readout, while we get the 70's technology gas cap guage on the Pro's. Thank you for clarifying that, it makes sense.

Maybe this is reason # 217.3476 that I should've got a standard RMK over the Pro RMK, and just upgraded shocks.

That's kind of what I thought as well. Might be nice to have, but the gauge in the cap is pretty foolproof. My buddy with an XF High Country rides around on empty most of the time wondering when he will run out, can't see in the tank and the electronic gauge doesn't work worth a ****.

Other thing the standard RMK has is separate hand/thumb warmer controls. Might be nice considering I can't turn mine on without scorching my thumb when my hands are still freezing.

Std. RMK has a front cooler too. Doh!

I dunno why you guys would even want an electronic gauge. They are useless. I know a lot of guys with XPs and not a single one of them has a working fuel gauge. I've heard the Cat ones are pretty bad too.

Yeah, my buddy is running blind on his XF. Only thing we know is it will always be the first to run out. 10 gal. tank and it gets the worst fuel mileage out of all sleds in the group.

Gas gauge?

Is that what the bouncy thing on the gas tank is?

I thought it was a compass, it just spins around in circles for no reason.

Ya, gee, why would anyone want a fuel readout/ icon on the main display, where they can see how much fuel they have left in a spot they are oftèn looking at anyways. I swear, people should think before they post.

none of the rmk models have to digital guage. They are all in the tank. the digital guage is for the rush models.

So neither the STD RMK nor the Pro have this feature? Just making sure because I am building one of these sleds and I want t know for sure if something isnt working properly when I get it back together. If you look at part #'s it says that there is no option for the sender on the Rush, but the RMK, Assault and Pro give 2 fuel pumps available. 1 with the sender and 1 w/out. It lists STD in the description name for the 1 that has it and the other that doesnt have it does not say STD in the description. Is that the STD RMK or just mean standard for the sleds or just mean something entirely different? It wouldnt make sense that the parts #'s would list the RMK/Pro/Assault with the option for the sending unit and the Rush w/out this option if its the Rush that has it and the RMK's dont. I am just trying to get clarification on this because I want to know if I should have the fuel gauge on the dash or not. Can anyone elaborate on this?

Ok gents, everyone check you owners manuals. On the front they list t
What models they cover. My manual (and I might add the updated manual I just got in the mail from Polaris) lists it covers all RMK models. Pgs 34 - 35 of both the manuals are clear these icons should be active. The manual does not say only some models will be equipped this way.

So there are RMK's out there with the icons working. I wish mine did.

Hey YZ400, so I bet all anybody would have to do is swap Fuel pumps for the one with the sender and then it would transmit to the guage. Sweet. I'm tempted to do that. This is great information. How tough would it be to swap a fuel pump, you think, lol!!!

It's been a few months since reading mine, however it was pretty clear to me that NOT all models are equipped the same way, but many shared the same gauge.
The RMK's and Assaults DO NOT have fuel display read-out/icons on the gauge.

That is a useless feature on a mountain sled anyway. They are constantly changing position and usually on un-even ground which can't provide an accurate signal from sender to gauge.
This is why they equipped the trail models (ie: Rush) with it instead and gave the RMK's a mechanical (functional) indicator in the cap.

I'm speaking from experience here, as I've had the digital displays on other sleds, and none of there were accurate or reliable.

There are other features like the digital security system which the gauge cluster is capable of producing, but not configured with (activated) from the factory.

Sorry for your disappointment, but I think you just read into it incorrectly.

Digital fuel guages belong on heavy overweight sleds like Yamahas! Keep it simple, anysled Ive ever seen with a digital guage was way off anyways. Im glad they brought back the 70's era guage/cap. Just my opinon.

Just my opinion. No need to insult me. I've had an electronic gauge myself, and in my experience, it was useless. I VASTLY prefer my "old" mechanical style Pro fuel gauge.
