Is there a spec on how much freeplay the shaft can have on a Garrett ball bearing turbo? I'm looking at a used 2860 and I'm wondering if I can measure the freeplay (with feeler gauges or something) to know if its still good before I buy it. It does have some movement in the shaft (small amount up and down, and side to side) but the compressor fins don't touch the housing anywhere.

honesetly, any turbo that has been run with have some slop side to side like that. as long as your not rubbing then you should be GTG>

I ended up buying it. After talking with Bryce from Turbo Performance I figured for what I paid I couldn't go wrong with it. Thanks agian for the help Bryce!
