Hey, have any of you tried Garrett gtx-r turbo on a Mcx Nytro? or at any other turbo kits?

Impulse has been offering Gtx as an option, I'm gonna try one for my 4 stroke, I'm hoping I can run a larger turbo due to the efficiency and retain the quick spool of a smaller turbo

Yup. Ran a 2863 GTX on my new Nytro last season. It is very cool. The GTX 2863, and water to air intercooler are standard issue on our HO Viper kit this season.

We also ran a 2863 GTX on our Proto viper with water to air and maxed the stock Nytro fuel pump at 6 lbs of boost at 6500 ft.
It's an awesome combo.

Hi NM do you got a video of your new viper? price for your turbokit?
Sorry no vid.
Our low boost (stock compression) kit with water to air, extra injectors, and GT 2860 is 5995.00
Our HO kit with 2860,2863, or 2867 GTX turbo and high flow water to air intercooler is 6995.00. This kit also comes with headshim.
For this season we are not shipping out of Canada.

you must speed up your production:) ill guess i will order one through CR :) any estimated hp on the high boost?

Consider the diffrence between an frontmount and an rearmount. from what i've read in theory and from what i've Heard from people that have tested in real life makes me not an believer regarding changing the MHI 16T/19T turbo to an Garrett GT/GTX in an Nytro MCX.

Depending on elevation and boost pressures...you are correct. Every turbocharger has its limits though.
It all depends what you need your turbo to do. I'm sure you have seen what happens when the cat 1100 guys crank the boost on the stock turbo at elevation...not much, because the turbo turns in to a hot air pump.

At low elevation, not a big deal.

NM ,what kind of A/R house do you use on your high boost kit with GTX ? And how much HP with GTX , 350-380 hp ?

I also ran gtx 2863 all last season on my nytro with Neil's water to air. It is a very good combo. Very fast spooling turbo and smooth. Worth the upgrade for sure

I ran the .86 housing on my Nytro, but we are going to the .64 housing on the Viper kits. If a customer wanted an .86 housing then we would put one on no charge.
Not really sure how much HP it can make, but I have never had my new Nytro past 14 lbs and it is quite fast. It is a built engine though.

The trick in this kind of threads is to be able to filter the "hype" away, it can easily be blown out of proportion, many, like me and you, like to try new things to try finding upgrades to our sleds to make them even better, an GTX is hard to beat in an front mount, but if it would be an upgrade on an MCX many MCX owners would post their results here, because is it something we like it's sharing our success with others, it also takes away some of the pain of spending Money to spread to others how well spent your Money was, it's no fun in telling people it was as burning them up :).
FYI. Next season i will probably install an GTX, in my front mount.

Gtx turbo for front mount

So what would be a good Gtx turbo to replace my garrett 2860 on my front mount powderlites kit on my rx1 . I want fast spooling turbo . Is the Gtx 2863 the same as gt2860 . Thanks for the help

It depends on how much boost you want to run and at what elevation you ride.
IMO a 2860 is borderline small for a 4 cyl unless you run 15 lbs or less. A 2863 is a great all around turbo.

Difference in power

Nm , how much of a difference is it compared to my 2860 I have now . I trail ride it at 10 pounds and turn boost up to 20 when I'm drag racing it . So is it a big difference to what I have now . Thank you

I looked at the Compressor map of a 2860 vs a 2860 GTX vs a 2863 GTX and based on what I believe your motor would make for power and the air demands required to make said power, the 2860 is way undersized. At 10 lbs the 2860 would be fine, but at 20 it is way past the effiency range. For just drag racing, the turbo would have a chance of living, but could never handle sustained periods of 20 lbs boost.
The 2860 GTX would be much better, but the 2863 can much more easily handle bigger boost.
According to Garret's website, the max hp ratings for these turbos are as follows.
2860-360 hp
2860GTX-400 hp
2863GTX-430 hp
