Does anyone know how to load Mapsource CD's to this GPS???

I don't think you can.... i think those are strictly waypoints.

I could be mistaken though.

It's a GPSMAP 76, the manual shows maps on the demo pages but not how to install maps to the GPS. It also shows I am only using 3% of the memory available. Someone must know, I can barely understand how the thing works with basic functions, guess I'm a GPS dummy.

Do you have a Windows PC with MapSource installed? You typically install MapSource from the CD containing the maps. This will install the program and the maps.

If you're past that point, when you connect the GPS to the PC, does MapSource detect it?

In MapSource, you can select which maps you want to send to the GPS and click the send "Send to GPS" button.

I have a 60csx but yours should be similar. as ONTRIDER has stated, you must load mapsource onto your computer. then open mapsource program on your laptop or pc and select the areas you want to load with the "MAP tool". with the gps connected via usb cord, click on the send to device button both of which are located on the top tool bar when in mapsource.

FWIW, I confirmed on Garmin's website that the GPSMap 76 will accept MapSource maps. But it does only have 1MB of free storage space, so don't expect miracles (ie. probably won't work with topo maps)
