What ever happened to games like "kick the can" ... you know outside stuff that required a kid to get off his butt and hussle. I think we are seeing the results now of the game boy generation at the work scene , with kids that dont know how to work. But play games on there blackberry every chance they get...its sad...Dino

agreed. its really to bad anymore, theres very few younger people out there that do know how to work everyday and that margin gets smaller every day

My kids still play kick the can, capture the flag, grounders, red rover and all kinds of games with their friends. They are homeschooled, (I read some of the comments before about homeschooled kids, they are the socialized, well rounded ones).

They are pretty amazing. When we get together with the groups of other kids, they have themselves organized instantly into a game of something. They make sure the big and little kids are distributed evenly and will play all day if we let them.

They have an xbox, but know they have to have more outdoor time than indoor time or they'll lose the xbox.

So, we went camping this weekend with some friends and saw some people at the campground with a projector playing video games on the side of their RV.

I have the old PS 2 in our camper (in case weather drives us inside) and the kids wanted to play it because they were bored of playing football, lacrosse, ladder golf, washers and riding bikes. They were pizzed when I told them no. Another boy in the campground couldn't understand why I told them no. My kids know my rules and don't argue, but the other ones tried to put up a fight.

My son also has a kid from his class that will want to play with him once in awhile. The other day we gave in and let him come over for a little while. Well after about 20 minutes outside the kid tells me he wished my son would play video games inside with him. I told him as long as the weather is good they are not allowed in the house. I even had to teach the kid how to hold a hockey stick. I don't think he will want to come over much anymore.

I totally agree with this, I see this in the work place all the time, it is hard to find good help that is my age(26), most of the guys my age that have come through the different shops I have been at have been fairly worthless

The most popular kids in my highschool were the ones who had formed video game teams and played for hours and hours on end. I agree...my generation sucks.

thanks god i wasnt a big video game person. i was and am always outside. when i was 10 (20 now) i starten a lawn mowing business. ever since then i have had a job wether it was shouveling snow, mowing lawns, sand blasting etc. the last 3 summers i have worked on a ranch and that has tought me a lot! so far this summer i have had about 5 days off due to rain since july 6th. got done haying and jumped straight into harvest and as soon as harvest gets over im starting my new job helping a blacksmith!
when i see my old friends i ask them what they have been doing all summer....the majority of the responses were "oh just layin around watchin tv". kinda pisses me off knowing that we will probably be paying their welfare in a few years.

Yes sir , I work at paving hwys....our company has a no cell phone policy. This was started as some truck drivers were on the phone more and more and not staying aware of there surroundings. My laydown crew work in LIVE traffic or so close to it that one wrong move or one dumbsht on a cell phone:mad: driveing by could be evel. Now most of our laborers are young kids who cant stand to be seperated from there BLACKBERRY for more than ten mins or so. Have had some leave on there own and have had to fire quite a few....because they couldnt go the day with out there phone, gameboy, Ipod. Dino

Its funny that people older then me are guilty of this crap too. I work on facilities that don't have a single hope of having cellphone signal, stay there for weeks at a time. Had one helper that did nothing but piss and moan day in and day out about how he couldn't "Text his homies" or keep up on things.

He's 28 but acts like he's 12. The 19 year old kid on the crew isn't much better, but at least he knows that when we get geared up to go to work the cellphone doesn't come out of the pocket till we're back in the office.

I don't kids are allow to play games where you have a winner and a loser, or if one kid is singled out, the PC police will not have this, like dodge ball, that will never be played in public school again because well some Pu$$y cried.
