G kit turbo swap?

What is a direct bolt on swap for the G kit turbo? Looking into a bigger turbo to get rid of some of the crazy heat its making. Also looking to make it as affordable as possible.

Or if theres a way to piece together another turbo to create a chinese/other brand turbo that would be great. I saw a thread on here of a guy who did that but not to the hot side of the turbo, that seems like the trouble side to me.

You would be best off picking up a used genuine garrett or a kpa2860 and attaching a cold air intake outside of the hood. This is assuming you have the extra injectors? What does your fueling side look like? How much boost at what elevation?

You can make a hybrid out of the chinese turbo but for the money of a kpa you would be much better off just upgrading.

No extra injectors at the moment. Running 8psi at around 7000+ft. Intake is outside of the hood. Im not looking into turning this into a high boost kit, just something that doesnt give me so many heat issues.

Sled runs strong but it does trip the det sensor relatively easy cause of heat. I looked into extra injectors but since im not maxing out my duty cycle at 8psi would cooling it down thanks to a bigger turbo not be more effective rather then just masking the heat with the extra injectors? Correct me if im wrong here. Im sure doing both is the best solution, and I might look into that come the summer but not at the moment.

If you don't need more fuel how would extra injectors help cool it down?

What turbo is on a g kit?
I don't remember the sizing but it is a chinese turbo with a hot side much smaller that the gt2860

Push added a 3rd injector upstream in the charge tube. The placement of the injector allowed the fuel to help cool the charge air down before it made its way into the engine. (think of water injection) aka Push's way of intercooling... But it is essentially a band aid for the bottleneck in the system.

I figured you were looking for something a little more but not something to redesign the entire kit. Little boost is much better than no boost. Two ways to go about it are to address the small bottleneck turbo, or add the 3rd injector to help out on heat soaking pulls. The 3rd injector is a cheaper band aid. Adding the 3rd injector wasn't for increasing the amount of fuel to the engine, it was used for the fuel to cool the charge air because the baby turbo is making it hot! Like 250 degrees hot on a dyno pull, let alone a mountain. So just because you didn't max your 2 injectors duty cycle doesn't mean it wouldn't help. You can use the same amount of fuel as before its just being injected in a fashion to help cool the charge air. For what you want a 2860 would make more power at less boost than what you currently have. And take care of the bottle neck. Used ones pop up often in the classifieds

Thanks for the comments guys. I was looking in to extra injectors but since I would need a new fuel box upgrading the turbo itself actually isn't much more $$ then the extra injector. A race gas bd box is 650$ from what I was quoted then you need to get the injector and and charge tube.

I was also wanting to turn this turbo kit into something I might keep for my next sled if I stay on M series.
Looks like a 2860 is in my future.

knuts82 has played with the G spot turbo alot send him a pm. His hybrid build here > http://www.snowest.com/forum/showthread.php?t=332869

What does the rest of your group ride and how does the little turbo compare? It always fascinated me on how those little $240 turbos did.

I ride with pros and XPs a lot, but I'm around a lot of XMs too. The sled runs really strong actually, I havnt found a non turboed sled yet that can compare power wise. But I also havnt really road with any BBs mainly piped sleds. I'll try to get a little video put together with some gopro footage I have.
