Fusion 900 rear springs

I just purchased the heavier rear torsion springs for my 05 900. The coiling is larger than the stock springs and after the suspension in installed they come into contact with the mounting nut on the inside of the tunnel. I don't see a different size plastic sleeve insert so am I missing anything here?

you got a pic? Im not sure what your talking about. i just installed some heavy dutys on my rmk. it rubs the wheel a bit but not much.

I had the same concern when I put on the heavier springs. There is not a bigger sleeve but you can use a piece of PVC from any home improvement store. I forget what size (maybe 1.5 ID). Put the PVC over the current sleeve and then the spring/coil will fit over the PVC. Worked perfect.

I will try that. Didnt want to customize anything if they were the wrong springs. Checked my order and numbers are correct. Thanks, I will post pics later.

you will be fine with the OEM smaller bushing, it just keeps the spring from binding on the upper torque arm.

when i did the heavier springs, the spring would rub the track a little, so i put 6" upper idler wheels on instead of the OEM 5 1/2" wheels, and all was great from there on.

good luck

There's a thread on here somewhere (did a quick search and didn't see it) that tells you about another bolt configuration that will solve your bolt problem. I just put larger torsion springs on mine as well and updated the bolt configuration to the following:

Torsion (L) 7042079-067
Torsion (R) 7042080-067

tapered end screw (2) 7517917
lock washer (2) 7552614
flat washer (2) 7555984
thrust washer (2) 7555945
flanged bushing (2) 5132972

I modified my sleeve and it works perfect, the bolt wanted to **** the spring into the upper idler wheel causing it to bind. The spring does barely touch the nut but I can move it back and forth, trail riding the spring will compress so it wont be an issue.
All it takes is (3) 1 1/2" pvc couplers and a short 1 1/2" pvc pipe. Got this stuff @ home depot because their couplers are smoother. Glue them together, grind the short flange on stock sleeve flush slide it in to the thicker flage ( this keeps it away from the idler wheel) and cut it flush to the stock black sleeve. $4.29 cost of materials, cant beat that.

Forgot to add that the clearance inside the larger spring is really close to the factory spring and sleeve.
