Fueling Question. Ethanol. Turbo

I noticed Chevron has 10% ethanol in their gas. 10% is not a lot. Im wondering now. When I put my pump gas set up on my sled if there is 10% ethanol will that hurt performance or possibly hurt the sled? What if i ran 2 gallons of race fuel in there as well. Advice please. Or do I need to put pump without ANY ethanol

its the only option now, so we have to deal with it, the 10 in "E10" means 10% ethanol:face-icon-small-win

im guessing you have a 2860 on that BD pump kit?...considering this size compressor and what ive had and seen, many miles at 8-10K elevation have been ridden up to 8lbs with no problems...however, its best to toss in 1-2 gallons of 112 for peace of mind and you can push it to 10lbs without any problems at the higher elevations

for me, the M8 at 5-6 lbs is pretty weak, 7lbs is better, 8 is so much better, 13 feels the best for me with the larger 2871

wait, this is a pump kit with no aux injectors, im not sure what those stock injectors can do for fuel demand in respect to boost

B1dodge would have a good say on this, i know hes got more pump gas miles then most.....on an M8

Ethanol thins the oil mix this is bad . This will burn up your engine bearings over time !! :face-icon-small-fro

How many miles is "Time" ??

I have no idea how long it would take, but ethanol breaks down the viscosity of the 2 stroke oil eventually leading to bearing failure. The marine sector is where I first noticed this issue.

Maybe an engine "expert" can shed some light on how long it would take for this to happen.

I think what N.E.S. is saying is that meth, eth , and all alcohol related fuels is very corrosive and promotes moisture. I think the bigger problem is with ethanol theoretic stoich is 6-1 AFR not the normal 12.5 -1 of gasoline. It takes 2 times the amount of alcohol to make the same hp as gas. So 10% ethanol in the fuel it will run leaner. (thats why the greenies like this stuff) they think its gives off fewer emissions.
2 things I have done while running this stuff. 1 if you still have oil injection just put a couple of "glug glugs" into your tank or if you are mixing just drop a couple points percentage wise and go.
2. Run it richer..... Afr or egts run a lower number and this will insure the safety of your motor.

everyone I know still runs 1-2gal of race about 6lbs for piece of mind.
If your worried about metal wear and want some added protection there is a product called SFR (superior friction reducer). comes out of somewhere in MT I think and can be found on line. It is pricey but it works, the oil molecules are much smaller than normal and stay in the metal. I have proven this stuff to be worth it. Just add one once to every quart in normal engine oil (crank case) I would add about 2 in 10 gal of gas in a sled.
Took an old junky car and after treating it with SFR I dumped 1/2 gallon of antifreeze in the crank case and drove it 3 miles, left it running drained the oil/antifreeze and put new oil back in the car, months later sold the car and not sure how long it lasted (at least 6 months). My mom had a 83 chev conversion van that was ran down to 1 quart of oil and the oil pressure would drop to zero and the motor would rattle when rapped up. She did it 4 times and eventually started smoking, started to take out the oil rings but still ran great. Once I put a bigger cam in a 84 camaro I had and when I fired it up it said it had oil pressure(the gauge was in the same spot as when I shut it off) but I failed to get the distributor locked in the oil pump, I did the cam break in then took it out on the road and rodded the pi$$ out of it for 12 miles before the motor went because of NO oil pressure, the few other times not running sfr when my oil pressure dropped it only took seconds to take out the crank bearings.
This is what really got me, a friend decided to throw some in his 03 YZ450 (1 once) in the case, immediately the clutch started slipping, so we drained it and put new oil in, still slipped, I took the clutches out and cleaned them with soap and water and a hot pressure washer, and then acetone, cleaned them three times before it finally started hooking up in all ranges.
I have also heard of friends cars getting 1-3mpg better but have never checked things that close to know myself(my driving is to erratic).

glug glugs?? So the best thing would be not to even run any of that and just go to a gas station that doesn't have ethanol in there.

haha ....thats the sound the oil bottle makes when you pour oil into the fuel tank....yeah yeah very scientific I know. but I like the no e10 thoery best.
