Fuel Tank removal

Well It looks like i am gonna have to pull tank to check wires under it.
I understand I need to get the tool to remove fuel lines but what about bleeding fuel rail as per manual? Is this necessary? I know I dont have one of those tools. Other than that any other tips?
Thanks
John

I have taken mine off twice this year. You can get the tool at your local auto part store for as little as $7. I didn't have to bleed any lines or prime anything, just plugged them back in and fired right up.

When I pulled my tank ( due to it being filled with sand, ricks and twigs :face-icon-small-sho ) I got my toll from the local autoparts shop, i think its a ford tool. I did bleed off all pressure then slipped it in and off she came. Now depending on your hand size this could be a feat since there isnt much room.

I hope this helps..... :canada:

How did you bleed off the pressure?

Right behind the L/H ( PTO ) cylinder you see a cap that looks like one that goes on bike intertube. pop it of and just like the bike inter tube push in on the center pin and out comes the fuel. Remember it is under pressure. So what I did is cover it with a rag first then push the pin. Im sure there is some thing out there for it but it works.

If you have't run it for a while there won't be any pressure. Both Autozone and O'reilly auto parts sell a cheep tool to do the job. It's in the help section right next to the Quick release clips that you can install to make it easier to pull the tank as per Biggdawgs post.
