I have this item circled on page 30 of my September 2009 edition of Snowtech.
Owners of 2009 Crossfires and M series have been notified (I haven't been notified) of a potential issue with the tightening of the mounting nut securing the fuel pump to the gas tank.
Arctic Cat instructed their dealers to tighten these mounting nuts to 20 foot pounds, which usually amounts to tightening the nut by a half turn.
Units affected include the 2009 M series and Crossfire 500/600/800/1000 models in the VIN range of 103896 through 118441. If you have a sled in your possession that falls within this range (I do) and the nut tension has not been checked or verified, you should not use the unit until this service has been performed. Contact your local Arctic cat dealer for further details or to schedule the service.
I bought my sled last March. The sled came right out of a crate and was put together the day I purchased it. I heard nothing of this recall, my dealer doesn't seem to be too savy on this item or if it was done before I picked the sled up. I'm not getting a warm fuzzy here.
Have any of you 09 owners been notified of this recall, and had it done?
How can one tell if this recall was actually done.
Better yet, where is this nut located and I'll do it myself?
Why would Arctic Cat initiate a recall on this seemingly insignificant item (risk of fire?) and not put out a service bulletins on the Diamond Drive Bearing or the VSB steering posts bending and breaking (risk of loss of control)?
What am I missing here?
