I put a bdx fuel pressure reg on my 06 m-7 i checked the fuel pressure before the install and it was 48 psi checked it with a snap on fuel injection tester kit I installed the reg and it was set at 38 so i turned it up to 40.Then i installed the gauge that Black diamond sent me and it says 38 psi on it if i move the gaauge around it will read 40 dont think it is very good.??? is it was real heavy on the fuel on the buttom and even with the bd box it was hard to tune out so do you guys think 40 is a safe psi for a 06 m-7. I put the gauge down buy the rail in the fuel line do you guys think that is a good idea or is there a better way to go any info would be good thanx Tator

There's the problem...how do you trust the gauge you have? And it is VERY important. The difference between 38 and 42psi could mean burndown, but that's only accuracy of 10%. I don't have an easy answer for ya. My dealer has a very accurate electronic gauge that I set mine to, and I just watch my cheep gauge for changes. An accurate, calibrated gauge is expensive, and won't stay calibrated long on a sled. If you absolutely can't get the dealer to help, you'll need to find an instrumentation shop nearby, and get them to sell or loan you a calibrated test gauge. Don't go mail order, you never know if it was bumped hard. Mechanical gauges are not very tough, they don't take abuse at all and stay accurate. Once it's set, you should be fine, assuming you get it locked down.

You might get an instrumentation shop to test your cheep gauge, but don't count on it. It may not even be adjustable (not disin the BDX gauge, never seen it, but I doubt it's seriously accurate, unless it cost more than $100).

Good luck,
John

I have the BMP fuel liquid filled fuel pressure gauge on mine. It is hooked up right out the fuel pump at the tank. I tested it with a calibrated gauge. It reads 1.5 psi low from 5psi up to 60psi. So I just made a note that is was reading low and went from there.

But overall it appears to hold calibration very well. Not adjustable but once you know where it runs who cares.

Do you by chance have that sheet for the newer sleds?

I'm curious about the difference in fuel pressure specs from 07 to current.

Just looked at my 07 M1000 service manual and it is exactly the same for fuel pressure. 42.8-47.3 PSI.

To big of a jump IMO. I set mine to 43 and tune the box from there. That is one of the problems with people exchanging box numbers. If they don't know where their base fuel pressure is they might just as well be guessing.

I agree 100% with you on this. It only took me about 3 years to figure it out unfortunately. I had always wondered why nobody's BD numbers work for each other if they have the same setup and ride the same elevation and it is because of exactly this. It finally clicked talking to Dale Cutler and Derrick from Attitude Industries last week at the big snow show in Puyallup, and it makes total sense now.
