Fuel pressue problem

Fuel pressure problem 2005 900

If I test the pump with 12v sled not running I have the 58 psi the manual calls for but as soon as I start the sled the pressure jumps between 50 - 70 psi the needle moves so fast all I see is a black streak. So I tried another pump/tank asm. off a running sled and it does the same thing. To confirm my gauge is good tried it on my truck and Rush and it is good. Tried putting 12v to pump with sled running and still no difference. Any ideas? would a bad injector do something like that it is really the only difference there is when the sled is running or not that the injectors are getting power?

What did the gauge do when you put it on the other sled that the tank came from?

Just an update on this problem (I found most people that have a problem and post it never post what the fix was, the topic goes dead after it is fixed) So the Volt problem and fuel pressure problem was caused by a bad voltage regulator only allowing 10-11 volts to the fuel pump. Now with that fixed I still have a bog in the bottom end of idle and using a ton of oil (1-1.5" from full in about 10 miles) I am hoping a check valve in the case need to test them still.

if your using that much oil, it could be a bad center crank seal..and your dumping oil in the case.

if you can, run the sled till the oil goes below the hose that comes off the side of the oil tank and if it stops using so much oil when it gets to the same level as the spot for the hose, its the center crank seal.

how bad does it smoke any oil in the y pipe? is the oiler stuck in the wfo postition not shutting all the way? heard of guys putting stronger springs in it.

Yes I thought about the seals as well real hope it's not them do not want to pull engine again. There is no oil in y pipe but pulled reeds today and pto is covered in oil, the oil pump returns fine and is free need to get a tester to test blow off pressure of check valves. The sled can sit for weeks and oil does not move in the tank (been marking it after running each time) but after running at high speed it drops fast. the first time thought maybe just an air lock in cross shaft cavity but I don't think it can hold that much.

pulling the motor is no fun just got done with mine yesterday. i think that i would check the check valves. i know on mine the oiler would return to normal under certain conditions but if i pinned it it would not return. found that the jacket would come out of the sleeve that is crimped onto the cable and not let it return. just replaced the cable and put a spring on it. it was fine untill i pulled the motor. must have damaged the cable in the process. mabye somthing to take a closer look at.

I will look at the cabel again. Checked the check valves and they are ok and pressurized the cross shaft area to 10 psi and it is holding I really dont know what kind of pressure it would make in there. I did notice that the arm stamp on the pump I put on is different and is from an 06 not sure of the output difference?
