Fuel mixing questions

So I've been tossing around the idea of a higher compression head for some time. Now in my normal riding area 89 octane is standard fuel. I've been thinking of mixing face or aviation fuel in with it to get my octane levels up. Any one have recommendations/guide lines for doing so? Or recommendations for a good fuel tester

You can be exact or just go a little heavier on the race fuel and ballpark it. I always figured a little extra race fuel never hurt much. Better to have a little too much octane than not enough for your application. Rebuilds cost more than the extra little bit of fuel you'll use. Just my 2 cents.

Mixing fuels for higher octane is just a straight ratio of the fuels. You just multiply the octanes by the ratios that you mix them and add them. For example if you mix 89 octane with 100LL av gas half and half you will multiply 0.5*89+0.5*100. So the result is 44.5+50=94.5 octane. Also when you mix leaded fuels such as avgas or leaded race fuel you will gain a small amount of octane in addition to what you calculate.
