Fuel in Revelstoke

I searched through all the old threads on here, and made a few phone calls without much luck. Does anyone know what you are allowed to bring fuel wise into canada? Trip is coming up next month, running avgas in both sleds (boosted). Can we bring enough fuel for 3 days of riding or do we have to buy there? And if we cant bring across the border, can you buy avgas or race fuel in revelstoke? Thanks in advance guys and girls.

5 extra gallons only. not five for the truck and each sled, just one five gallon can.

all sleds, genny's, trucks can be full but, only one five gallon can is allowed without paying tax/duty.

pm sent. Ski

We had plenty of extra race gas with us when we went there last spring.
They asked us at the border what we had in the trailer and we said 4 sleds.
Why 4 sleds? We have an extra just in case one breaks down.
Asked us where we were headed and then proceeded to lecture us about the avalanche risks and danger.
Then sent us on our way.

Gone up there a few times and they haven't said a thing about the 55 gallon drum of fuel in the trailer. On the way home the US board guys asked what was in the drum but that was it. They were more concerned why we had an extra sled and if we were going to sell it.

So the rule is 1 5gal jug per truck or trailer of sleds, but they might allow more?? i guess just an expensive roll of the dice...

Don't know what the actual Canadian law says, but we've carried a 55 gallon drum on an open trailer multiple times and have never been asked about it.

Had a 70 gallon fuel cell in the enclosed trailer, and never once asked about fuel.

If you don't want to risk it, the airport in Revy sells 100LL Av Gas...you might call them ahead of time to find out their requirements for selling fuel for non-aviation purposes:

Revelstoke Airport

Thanks for the info, and the contact information. I will check into it and see if they will sell for non aviation use.

it's not the border that you have to worry about the extra gas...it's the ferries..they don't like seeing gas cans sitting out...it's a fire harzard....if you have a bunch of extra gas just make sure it's not visable.

so don't have a bunch on your sled deck or your open style trailer and you will be fine. bring you own gas if possible, gas in revy is expensive!

have been waiting...

I have been waiting to respond to this thread, regarding sale of 100LL Av gas or VP Race gas in Revelstoke. I have final confirmation today from my Insurance agent, as such....

I can tell you that I will be keeping an inventory of 100LL Av Gas at our new Shop located in Revelstoke. I may consider VP fuels as well, depending on what people are requiring.

"Powerhouse Customs" will be moving in this weekend and setting up for business at #102A-1240 Powerhouse Road in the East Industrial park in Revelstoke.

We will be building our 4130 Chassis's as well as custom Turbo set ups, W/A intercoolers, Suspension components, ..the usual trick sled stuff. We will also be available for "After" hours repairs. It will take some time, but we will endeavor to have some hard parts inventory for repairs, as well as some aftermarket accessories. Heated, secure sled storage will be available, with or without a service contract, loaded and unloaded with a forklift.

No phone number as yet, but will have it next week. PM me for details.

Cheers

Fuel in Revy

Someone once told me "who cares what it costs if you like it, pay the duty and forget about it"
That was the conversation around Tequila from Playa.
Apply that to fuel, who knows what your going to get in Revy, does it matter?
Pay the tax if any, rip up the hills, eat at Zalas, drink lots and do it again!
Easy......you only live once, and no one said sledding was cheap!
My $0.02

Last two times we were through, not even a question about fuel....never have had them ask.....however, the stations in rev. Carry 93 oct. pump, so that was nice for my t-Nytro....

We have 40 gallon storage on trailer, but would not hesitate to put in cans as well....

As others have said, they are more concerned about number of sleds entering, and returning....

100LL Av Gas Price

Will be available at our shop next week. $2.10/litre. Filling your jerry cans. Working on AFD 108 race fuel as well, another week or so for this.

Powerhouse Customs, #102A-1240 Powerhouse Rd., East Industrial park in Revelstoke. I will post the phone number when we get it.

Cheers

Race Fuel

There is another Sled shop in Revy that sells race fuel and it is called Infinite Power Sports. He also has Parts and oils. I believe he sells his race fuel for $6.00/L. He is located at 1051c Sandstone rd and is soon moving onto Westside RD.
