How much fuel are your guy's sleds eating up? My BD PG/800 is very thirsty!!! I think i need to do some leaning out, because there is no way it is right.

Unless im doing alot of wfo running mine is about the same as a stock 800. not boondockers kit.

Did you get it running good? Did you try 50 to 50 mix? Saw you posting on the other thread and wondering what you found?

Any thing over stock is going to use more fuel no way around it. The more boost the more fuel.i rode with that other guy that posted but he is alway's sitting around so do not go by what he say's.:face-icon-small-win

I have not had a chance yet...i cant get off work in time to get out, but i will over christmas. But, while i was out the last time, my sled chugged 6 gallons in about 2 hours of messing with the tune. I know i don't have it dialed in yet, I just was curious what others were seeing for fuel consumption.

:fencing:

Why are you even reading turbo threads? stay in the Perf/Mod! lol

More power, more fuel.

30% more fuel, 30% more power! If you put around and never get on it they will probably burn about the same, but who would really do that? They should burn about 30% more fuel.........but who is burning 30% more oil? Better check your oiler. If you where 40:1 before the turbo, you probably need to turn up your oil feed.

Running 10#. It's gotten some changes to the controller mapping cause it was loading up on bottom end. Plugs looked good but wash showed a little rich. We'll see if this helps next trip out. My riding style makes for lots of WOT too!

I was thinking about this on the way into work today. Maybe some of you can clear this up for me. Given that you are running the same maximum rpm, would you necessarily need to burn more oil with turbo setups? Or does the extra fuel and air warrant the additional oil usage? I've been adding a few ounces of oil per tank when filling up just for extra insurance.

Thoughts?

I should add that my '09 TD8 recently got 7.5 mpg.

Conditions:
1,000 feet elevation (MN)
7 psi boost
Varied throttle
60 miles on the trail (no off trail)
8 gallons used

Just check yours and see where its at. You may be about spot on now with the turbo. This is what I did. Fill oil up and top off with fuel. After your 50 mile or so ride fill up the gas and measure how much oil yours is taking and calculate it. Before the turbo mine was like 32:1, now I am running about 42:1 but I also put a little oil in the tank also. So with the oil in the tank I am running 40:1. I am hoping oil in the tank helps extend the life of the reeds also.

Here is my thinking. Same max rpms, but you are now using like 30% more fuel at max rpms so you are getting the same oil as stock at these rpms but now you are using a lot more fuel.

the oil deal makes since in theory... however after 6000 trouble free miles and still kicking with out ever adjusting my oiler i dont believe it to be a must.i run a trail tank on my sled and on a good powder day i will go through 12-15 gallons, but i've gone through fuel like that on all of my sleds boosted or not. i just like to be wot A LOT :face-icon-small-hap

Oil in the tank will do nothing for your reeds, injectors are in the cylinders downstream of the reads.
