They do allow you to adjust fuel supply if you have a problem that you want to deal with.
I had the same sled but did not run the fuel controller even though I had a new one in the box to use.
The CFi system is self compensating for altitude air temp and other factors... unlike a carbed system with an electro/mechanical altitude comp.
I used my D7 extensively through the west from California Sierras, to Utah, Colorado, Wyo, Revy, Whistler and many points in between... I did not have any run-ablility issues with my sled other than a clogged fuel filter (I knew better than to let it go so long)
